SAVE THE PASEO EARNS GROWING SUPPORT ON KANSAS CITY EAST SIDE!!!

The debate is becoming a uniquely Kansas City affair . . . Factions and longtime leaders in the 3rd District are pushing back against some members of the clergy while Northeast residents lead the effort in a move that is mostly focused on historic preservation. Here's another mainstream report on the ongoing battle for control of local streets.

Community reacts after city validates petition to keep The Paseo name

Neighbors and community groups are reacting after Kansas City validated a petition to return Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to its former name The Paseo. Michael Patton has lived on the street 38 years. "I enjoy living on The Paseo, but I see the need for Martin Luther King Boulevard to exist in Kansas City," Patton said.

Really seems like the city just shoved MLK down everyones throats without enough input from the taxpayer.

It's The Paseo, not Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard

If you’re going to change the name of the Paseo, change it to James Earl Ray Blvd.

MLK Blvd was shoved down everyone's throat and our tax dollars thrown out the window without our vote! Keep our tax dollars in KC for our needs and not to pay annually to use someone's name without a vote from the people! I don't know about anyone else but I'm sick of this dirty mayor and city officials!

If I had a dollar for every time someone called me racist I’d have so much money that I’d probably get mugged by a black man on MLK boulevard.

I would advocate changing 47th Street to "Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, Boulevard", it's a much more significant street running through the Plaza, and carries its unification through diverse neighborhoods.

We can switch the "Emmanuel Cleaver II Boulevard" designation to something far more appropriate like East 32nd Terrace or perhaps a block or so of Myrtle Street.

I am a racist but not to the extent of the fat fake revruns.

No, you can’t rename any street in the Plaza after MLK. It would have a devastating effect on property values. It will lower property values even in the shithole ghetto.

You could name a turd in Brush Creek after MLK. That’s the Plaza.

Someone needs to file a protest and start a group to rename troost barack hussein obama boulevard. Now...tell me that isnt a conundrum.

5:06, you have a black mayor who is trying to leave his shit stain on the city after his term is up, which all mayors of any race do, as all politicians do in any form of government. I dont live in KC so I could care less what you morons name your streets, but get it figured out because street sign changes and change backs are really boring news! How about some pot hole news, how about some resufacing of streets news where the fuck is that news? There isnt any because KC cares about stupid shit like changing names of streets, and spends money on that before fixing the streets those signs are placed on!!! KC has a intelligent government and a intelligent voter base that keeps your KC circus open! BTW I saw a ambulance at the QT on main near the plaza that had its turn signal lense duct taped on to hold it in place, Hell if they cant maintain public saftey equipment, but can spend 10's of thousands on street sign changes for no reasons, one could only assume how fucked the city government truly is it your city!
