This place was mostly good PR for a nearby church that owned it but it no longer makes sense to throw away money on a spot that never generated any revenue. Moreover, the "culture" of the space was growing decidedly leftist and militant and "art" was running a distant second to politics for many. And so "news" of Redeemer Fellowship selling off the building isn't surprising.

The Drugstore, a midtown space for Kansas City's young and emerging artists, will close
Emily Cox The Drugstore, a collaboratively run studio space at the corner of Westport Road and Main Street, is shutting down after seven years. The 26 current resident artists will pack up and leave over the next few months.
The city should move quickly and open a homeless outreach services facility in this iconic KC location.
