NEWSFLASH!!! MIDTOWN KANSAS CITY ARTSY 'DRUGSTORE' SHUT DOWN THANKS TO RADICAL POLITICS AND NO BIZ PLAN!!!

This place was mostly good PR for a nearby church that owned it but it no longer makes sense to throw away money on a spot that never generated any revenue. Moreover, the "culture" of the space was growing decidedly leftist and militant and "art" was running a distant second to politics for many. And so "news" of Redeemer Fellowship selling off the building isn't surprising.

While there were some very talented people working at this place. The upshot of this report is that real estate speculation is also taking hold inside this rough & tumble corridor of KCMO. Checkit:

The Drugstore, a midtown space for Kansas City's young and emerging artists, will close

Emily Cox The Drugstore, a collaboratively run studio space at the corner of Westport Road and Main Street, is shutting down after seven years. The 26 current resident artists will pack up and leave over the next few months.

  4. Three comments? Appears no one cares. Which says a lot about this city.

  5. Didn't they kill a shoplifter there when it was a drugstore? Awesome BTW. You don't see that anymore.
