Remembering one of many times when the grand designs devised by best and brightest of Kansas City came crashing down into oblivion. Take a look:

Missouri Valley Special Collections, Kansas City Public Library / Report on the Kemper Arena Roof Collapse On June 3, 1979, the Kemper Arena hosted a convention of America's top architects. The group gathered inside the West Bottom's sleek modernist arena, a structure it recognized as "one of the finest buildings in the nation."

  1. I was at the Jetro Tull concert two weeks before the roof collapsed. The band UK was so loud you could hear the roof rattle from John Wetton's bass
