Celebrate New Kansas City Toy Train

Without a public vote and via ridership stats that are mostly FAKE NEWS . . . Here's a glimpse at Kansas City's train that has been CONSISTENTLY DENIED FEDERAL FUNDING despite constant local media hype and cheerleading. Today's party:

New streetcar joins the KC fleet - Kansas City Business Journal

The Kansas City streetcar fleet will grow from four to five on Monday, with the arrival of vehicle No. 805. It's the first of two streetcar vehicles scheduled to arrive in Kansas City this year. The cars were bought from Washington-based CAF USA Inc. for $11.9 million in 2016.

  2. This is exciting!
I plan to ride this sometime someday.. maybe next year or so.
I wrote them several years ago and told them to go ahead and count me riding already. I made a coupon that is a 1000x multiplier- so they can count my potential riding even higher... now. Plus I know some people on some social media sites like InstaFace and such I am such an influencer... they can count those potential rides... now. It’s my permission!
A buddy said he has been on it and they make all the bums that ride it endlessly get off at each round trip... but they get to count them... great math! They have invisible multiplier cards- and they get to count them as Visitors- easily millions with just a few people.
    Gotta love it!
That’s the kind of math that’s in their schools and maybe the Royals should use for attendance if they don’t already..they could lead the league! So could the KC Star with subscribers! And Frank White could send in a few dollars a month with the multiplier to pay his house off...what a deal!

  4. I had followed David Johnson for quite a while on Twitter... I had to unfollow. He used to be voice of reason on Urban transportation and life, which I found refreshing. Now his tone is very sanctimonious, political, and a little arrogant. I am afraid if he gets any leadership role he will not build consensus... He will just drive one agenda.

    1. He's a notorious prick. He only sees his little boutique rail project, and not the massive dysfunction in the rest of the community. He's actually not very bright; he would be much better suited selling clothes to soccer moms or something harmless like that.

  5. Is that why they made everyone get off the street car? I haven’t ridden it in two years but for a while I was almost on it every day when I lived downtown. I remember when we would stop at union station sometimes they made everyone get off and stand outside for a few minutes and then let everyone back on. Sometimes the train driver didn’t care if I stayed on or not.

That makes sense though if they were recounting everyone getting back on to inflate the numbers. It’s a very progressive type of numbers fixing for a city like KCMO.

  7. I still do not get why a bus attached to tracks is so cool. No route flexibility is 18th century technology.

  10. The State of Missouri should come in and take over all spending of this City. It is a disgrace that KC has the crime, schools and poorly maintained streets and general services it has.

  11. Why is this newsworthy? Does the news report on every new bus that is added to the fleet?

  12. I wonder how many potholes could have been filled in exchange for not spending money for something we dont need here!! KCMO is such a fucking JOKE!
