Session Recap: Kansas Democrats Wield New Power, But GOP Leaders Thwart Medicaid Expansion

In the waning days of the 2019 session, the conservative Republicans controlling the Kansas Legislature made one thing clear to Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly and her allies: They were ready for a fight against Medicaid expansion. The issue commanded the four-month session, which ended in the wee hours Sunday.

  1. Democrats wielding new power? LMFAO!

The only way Kansas Dems have any power is by getting their own elected as Moderate Republicans and now that these scumbags are getting outted are either moving back to the Dems or getting voted out.

Yeah, they got a governor. A toothless, geriatric one.

  4. 11:29 - fuck nitwit, everyone knew Kelly would have to battle to get shit done in a legislature run by hayseed Republicans. Take your stupidity to some echo chamber on Reddit or something. Fact is, the majority of voters in Kansas voted for Medicare expansion and Republicans decided they don't answer to anyone. Pretty standard practice these days for those assholes.

Here's a solution, legalize weed and expand Medicare. Problem solved through tax on weed.

  5. 8:38 if Kansans voted for Medicaid why is there a bigger GOP majority in the Legislature than before?

Write this down: Nowhere in the US Constitution does it say that the Federal government has a duty to provide health care! Medicare, Medicaid or any sort of single payer is an unconstitutional role of government, period, end of discussion.

Your right to healthcare only extends out as far as your wallet, just like any other good or service you purchase.

  6. ^^^ The constitution doesn't mention the Air Force or even a DoD either so your cute argument about what's guaranteed by specific reference doesn't cut it. Even general guaranteed "freedoms" aren't listed in the original text.

And why was a pro-expansion democratic governor elected if Kansans were against it?
