ACTIVIST CLAY CHASTAIN LOSES WRITE-IN BALLOT FIGHT BECAUSE HE COULDN'T MAKE IT BACK TO KANSAS CITY!!!

Thing of it is . . . He's totally correct on this issue and KCMO should provide write-in space.

Mahoney Via Twitter: Jackson Co Judge denies Clay Chastain’s request for election officials to provide a slot for write-in candidates in KCMO’s June 18th election.

The struggle according to Clay:

"Judge ruled against Clay because he was not at hearing even though the court gave Clay less than 24 hours notice of hearing. Clay's daughter is in school and Clay could not be in Kansas City on such short notice. Clay informed the court he could be reached on phone for a conference call and also sent Vincent Lee "the General "to speak in his behalf. The court was uncooperative and declined all of Clay's efforts to represent himself. The court even refused to just rule from the bench based on the facts pleaded in Clay's petition he filed with the court. Once again, justice for the people denied in Kansas City!"

The transit guru has an alternative plan . . .

But, all is not lost. Clay wants voters to mark up their ballots:

"Missouri State Statute 115.456 says election authorities must count write-in candidate votes so long as the declared candidate's name is written in by voters and voters also write next to the candidate's name the office candidate is seeking.

"So voters, come one come all on June 18th and ask for a paper ballot, write-in Clay Chastain for 4th In-District City Councilman and watch the fun begin and "the City Beautiful" return - Clay Chastain, Write-in candidate for 4th In-District City Councilman"

Developing . . .

  4. Gosh, pretty hard to make it to court in Missouri when you live in Virginia, isn't it?

Just think if we needed the mayor for something, and he was too busy to get here from his home TWO STATES AWAY!!!

Maybe there's a reason that the mayor has to live in Kansas City.

  5. Just another of City Hall's tame Judges doing whatever he was told.

  6. I had the same thing happen to me once, the defendant's lawyer found out I was in LA and got a Judge to hear his reason for dismissal and I had not seen the notice as it had yet to make it to my office. Same case here I was given 24 hrs notice and actually less. Judge dismissed based on my failure to appear. Later that day the you know what hit the fan and long story short that Judge in KCK is no longer sitting in a courtroom and a lawyer was sanctioned over it. All parties are entitled to reasonable notice to appear and looks like Clay was denied his right in this case I hope like hell he does not stand around and allow to go unchallenged. I won my case by the way.

  7. Write him in anyway! 8:33 and 8:36 STFU you have no clue about politics, just liberal logic which equals no logic. Complete morons you people even look alike with that stupid "I'm an moron look."

  8. 9:16 -- So, it's moronic to expect the mayor to live in the City he wants to represent? To observe that he doesn't even live in the State? Beyond the lack of logic to support the proposition, it is not permitted in law.

I see the value in your ad hominem attack -- which is to say, none. Try addressing the point instead of dismissively name-calling; it's a lot more effective.

  10. @6:04am
If Sly actually wanted to live in the city whose residents he "represents", he'd have a house in Leawood, Kansas.
That's where most of the development attorneys, "developers", construction company executives, and engineering consultants live.
And he's been working hard to help them as much as he can about every day for eight years.
The folks who actually live in KCMO and depend on city services/
    Not so much.

  12. Tax payers waking up5/5/19, 3:51 AM

The voters voted in the light rail years ago, where the fuck is it? A street car is what the corrupt government was able to shit out in its 2 mile glory only to apease local visitors who more than likely see it as a joke! Its free but a bird scooter is faster, more conveinent and cheaper than a Uber or Lfyt, too funny how this local government thinks they are running a city, when in fact they are running a circus of homicides, rasism, and lies to the tax payers.
