MAYOR PRO TEM AND LAME DUCK CITY COUNCIL DUDE SCOTT WAGNER ENDORSES 2ND DISTRICT CONTENDER KEVIN McEVOY OVER INCUMBENT DAN FOWLER!!!
We don't blame the council dude for being a bit salty in his political actions after his mayoral contest defeat. The slap in the face to his former Northland colleague probably feels good after he was rebuffed by Forward KC in favor of biz dude Steve Miller's family money. On paper most agree that Scott Wagner is the most qualified and has the best temperament to be the next KCMO mayor but his campaign never really reached critical mass.
Meanwhile . . .
Mr. McEvoy is a "Trump-Style" Republican whereas Council Dude Dan attempts to sell himself as a nice guy but is more a member of the old school Northland political establishment i.e. he STILL has to get drinks for Bill Skaggs & Deb Hermann.

"This is payback for Dan Fowler endorsing Jolie. This won't help McEvoy at all. Almost all of District 2 is in Platte County and Jolie Justus easily won there and Dan won the primary 70/30."
Kevin McEvoy is more "gratified" by the gesture (ewwww) of support from the council dude:

A good move for Wagner. Keeps him in the game and relevant rather than just falling into a jolie or quinton camp.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you TKC that scott was the most qualified for the job. He handicapped his own campaign in a lot of ways. He should have been much rougher with both Jolie, Quinton and everyone else running for mayor. The problem is that he takes his political actions seriously and thinks that campaign talk is important. That was always his mistake. If he was just a bit more of a rhetorical "bomb thrower" like President Trump or even Bernie Sanders, he would have gotten far more traction.

ReplyDeleteSly ruined Wagner's career. He did the same thing with just about every politician who ever got close to him. Not intentional, just the cost of doing business.
