TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! KSHB-TV DUMPS MARRIED COUPLE AND ANNOUNCES NEWSIES CHRISTA DUBILL & KEVIN HOLMES AS EVENING LEAD ANCHORS!!!

Right now we've got FIRST WORD of a new direction and harder news for this Kansas City station that has some of the best coverage in the metro.

More importantly . . .

NICE NEWS DOESN'T WORK AT NIGHT AS KSHB MOVES AWAY FROM CHARMING MARRIED HOSTS AND TOUTS TOUGHER LOCAL POLITICAL COVERAGE!!!

Turns out the bigger audiences in the evening didn't want to see goo-goo eyes and friendly chatter. Instead, we notice that both of these journalists have handled difficult, meaner and more controversial stories throughout their career.

And so this is a bit of good news for locals who want more controversy in their nightly updates.

Here's the word:

KSHB-TV NAME CHRISTA DUBILL AND KEVIN HOLMES LEAD ANCHORS

Kansas City, Mo. – KSHB-TV, Kansas City’s 41 Action News station, named award-winning broadcasters Christa Dubill and Kevin Holmes lead anchors for the station’s Monday through Friday early and late evening newscasts. Dubill, who has been with KSHB for 11 years, currently co-anchors 41 Action News at 4:00 p.m., as well as 41 Action News at 6:00 p.m. Holmes is currently an anchor/reporter, anchoring 41 Action News at 6:30 p.m. while field reporting for other 41 Action News newscasts. In their new roles, Dubill and Holmes will co-anchor KSHB’s 5:00 p.m., 6:00 p.m., 6:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. weekday newscasts.

“Throughout my career I’ve had the chance to work on many different newscasts at all hours of the day, and I’ve loved every minute of it. What an honor to shift my hours a bit to once again spend time with viewers at 10:00 p.m. And bonus! I get to team up with the admirable Kevin Holmes and the rest of the amazing crew,” said Dubill. “When I started my journalism career I never imagined I would be in a great place like Kansas City. Now, I can’t imagine being anywhere else. I’m excited to tell more of the stories that makes this such a great city and to work with such a great team,” added Holmes.

“Christa and Kevin are both excellent journalists. They are also passionate about our communities and telling its stories. I’m excited for both of them,” said Steve Watt, General Manager for KSHB/KMCI-TV.

Dubill and Holmes replace Mike Marusarz and Rhiannon Ally, who are leaving KSHB to take an opportunity that works better for their family. Marusarz and Ally are one of the country’s few married couples who co-anchor a local television newscast together.

Dubill and Holmes begin their new roles on Monday, April 15, 2019.

  1. Agree that the married couple should have been relegated to the morning but TV news has a tough time with politics. Not a lot of good visuals and KC residents easily discount local opinions they disagree with.

    1. So we might actually get some news in the middle of the Gary Lezak show. That is great! Glad to see that 41 finally learned that people watch the news for the news not the weatherman and his dogs.

    3. Most of if not all the replies on here are very shallow. Ratings are the bottom line. If money wasn't made then they move on to a different lineup. It has nothing to do with personal issues. Everyone please move on with your life.

  2. TV news is a tough sell. The best thing they have going for them is the bumpers and 41 does get more creative with the corny announcements and teases, that's probably just as important as the anchors.

  3. if someone does not comment on her nice titties, i will be confused.

  4. You will be confused regardless.

  5. This is a step in the right direction. Kevin Holmes and Christa Dubill are professionals. Mike Marusarz was just OK, but Rihannan Ally was an airhead (a good looking one, admittedly) and evidently proud of it.

    1. Agree. 41 Action news made a great decision adding Christa and Kevin. I had to stop watching the evening news while Rihannan and Mike were on.

  6. Meh, I really like all 4 of them. Hope Mike and Rhiannon find a good spot for their family situation. Unfortunately, doing local evening news is going to have an impact.

Glad to see Holmes and Dubill continue on.

  7. who the fuck watches television news?

  8. Now can they hire writers to produce news scripts and copy editors to catch errors? The current ad libbing and conversational delivery resembles a high school level production.

  13. Hopefully 41 will donate all that pancake makeup they used on Ally to Waffle House.

  14. Nothing personal against the married couple, but when KSHB hired them on, I said it was a big mistake.

Viewers wouldn't bond with a very young married couple, and all the other newsies at KSHB would feel shafted as management would feel they had to play favorites to keep the couple happy.

It also didn't help that the young couple enjoyed talking about themselves on-air (e.g. discussing personal trips they'd taken, etc.)

KSHB has turned over a lot of staff the last couple of years, in part because others didn't see a way to advance with a young married couple sitting in the anchor chairs, so they left town for another opportunity.

  15. She likes to pop out kids.Mow that she is unemployed, can I make an appointment to hit that ass.
Maybe I could score a three way with Ally and Katie the best of both worlds. Msybe throw in Gina.

  16. Too much personal comments plus she can't read the teleprompter. She was there because some thought of her as attractive, I'd rather bang Dubill anyway, as nice as they portray her on air she's gotta be a dirty girl.

  17. I actually liked them. Seems like the other stations are more "inside edition" type tabloids. KCTV 5 will put anything salacious and scandalous on air.

Dubill and Holmes will do a fine job too.

  18. The married couple bolted. They didn’t get fired. Dubill and the black guy who thinks he’s eddie murphy?? You’ve got to be kidding me!!! They are both B list. KSHB is using them until they find something better. I’ll be watching Channel 9 again fo sho.

  19. I really thought Rhianna falling across the table to flirt with Mick would have been enough to make Mike wanna leave. Good Lord how obvious was that?I just wish they would give Gary Leezak 10 minutes to tell us what the weather is going to do and get off.We dont need it repeated 3 times.

  20. How long before Dubill claims Holmes creates a hostile work environment?

  21. Why is every comment here posted by anonymous? Im glad the married anchors are gone. Who wants to constantly hear about their personal family crap? Now if they can only get rid of Lezaks dogs, it might be a real news show.

  22. I was shocked with the couple's departure & I thought Gary Lezak should be the one to go. He over steps his boundaries all the time. He always wanting to get his word in last. I enjoyed the couple very much. I don't watch any more. Anonymous

  23. Something is going on at KSHB..I am still wondering what happened to Jadianne Thompson. With such a high turnover rate at that station, I bet they suffer from severe management deficiencies.

  24. I think some of the comments here are sick. Keep your sexual comments to yourself. They seemed like a nice couple, and don't deserve these comments.
