Here's a look at how one local school district makes an increasing number of students feel "LESS THAN" with a freebie lunch option that's still busting their budget . . . Also, a glimpse at the future as rampant income inequality and public perception on the topic changes the political landscape throughout the nation. Take a look:
School lunch debt affects Kansas school district
SHAWNEE MISSION, KS (KCTV) -- The lunchrooms in the Shawnee Mission School District see more than 27,000 kids every day, serving both breakfast and lunch. The lunches cost $2.65 if you're in elementary school and $2.80 if you're in middle school or high school.
Really? This is a published story? When I attended Shawnee Mission East High School in the 1970's I was bullied so often that I never went to the lunchroom. Skipped lunch everyday. Never ate. Went to the other end of the school where i couldnt be easily found and sat reading a book. And my parents, who were very wealthy, never asked me why I didnt need lunch money. No vending machines back then either
ReplyDeleteThat's terrible. Most people on this blog just post stupid sexual, racist or political stuff on here. Sorry to hear that crap happened to you. I hope life got better for you.
DeleteJo Co getting poorer. If you can't move to leawood, you're screwed.
ReplyDeleteslow news day? It's good for kids to learn to deal with shit. Most kids don't care too much but when you write articles bringing attention to it you have to wonder where the motivations actually are. If this lady is so pissed she can pay for the lunches herself
ReplyDeleteSocialism in action ! Once people start getting stuff for free more people want it for free even if they can afford to pay for it.
ReplyDelete^^^^National Socialists Nazi Byron the peter sucker ha been getting it free for years and years. He has done exactly what those he hangs with do and that's screw the system.
ReplyDelete^^You're pretty fucking petty and also a terrible person. Who gives a shit what Byron does? Why don't you have anything better to do than insult people on the comments section of a blog?? Did you always mean to fail, or did you come by it naturally?
ReplyDeleteSee. B'lie'ROB does have feelings. Well, why wouldn't he? He CAN'T see.
DeleteCertain parts of JOCO are changing because the poor are moving from KCMO and WYCO to low-end rentals hoping their kids will get a better education. Unfortunately it’s a losing proposition for everyone. The poor kids are already behind the learning curve and their poverty is more noticeable in an area like JOCO. Teachers have to spend more time and attention trying to get the poor kids up to speed, and are inadvertently neglect the mainstream students in the process. Gated communities and private schools are the best bet for those who can afford them.
ReplyDelete1:55 you mean as Byron does?
