SATURDAY SHOCK!!! KANSAS CITY SKETCHY SURVEY SEYZ VOTERS FAVOR QUINTON LUCAS FOR MAYOR!?!?!

This afternoon we notice a bit of weekend gamesmanship from one of our favorite political denizens.

The latest . . .

NEW JEFF ROE GOP POLLING SEYZ QUINTON LUCAS NOW LEADS THE KANSAS CITY MAYORAL CONTEST!!!

Take this one with a grain of salt given that the Northland juggernaut and a whole lot of cash weren't able to force Steve Miller on the local voting public. Their boy finished 4th and wasted a small fortune to do that . . . Remember Remington picked Steve Miller to finish 2nd when, in fact he placed a distant 4th.

Moreover, the early lead actually hinders Lucas, might inspire false confidence in his supporters and thereby inspire Team Jolie to pick up their pace.

Basically . . .

The poll is politics and not science but still an important reminder of how this contest looks for right now . . .

New poll: Lucas leads Justus in mayor’s race with many voters still undecided

Deets:

The poll, conducted by Remington Research Group, and paid for by Missouri Scout, was conducted on April 17 and 18.

Among likely voters, 38 percent said they would vote for Lucas if the election were held the day of the poll, while 31 percent said they would vote for Justus, with 31 percent still undecided . . .

The favorability ratings were roughly the same for each candidate, with 50 percent of voters having a favorable opinion of Lucas and 47 percent having a favorable opinion of Justus.

Accordingly . . .

HOW DO YOU INTERPRET THE POLL GIVEN THAT OUR BLOG COMMUNITY ISN'T FORCED TO PUSH THE COMPANY LINE LIKE MOST PUNDITS IN KCMO?!?

You decide . . .

  1. I think they're giving the right signal with their margin of error. 31 percent still undecided means it's anybody's election.

    1. Phone polling in this day and age? Don't think so. Sorry.

    2. Wouldn't be so doubtful here, they're being generous with Quinton's lead which isn't that solid but now he picks up Jermaine Reed and Alessia Canady voters.

  2. Jolie +5

Sorry, unlike most lackadaical kc talkers say. Jolie will get the northland vote thanks to forward KC.

  3. ^^^ So that's like 9 votes. Where is the rest of her support coming from?

  4. Quinton looks busier. That's not a bad sign.

  5. I like the media on this, there's a fight over the possibility of the contest going dirty not anything anybody actually said.

  6. @5:53, She sure as hell won't get a single vote from her4th District constituents north of the River, she's hated there!

The Bitch won't answer phone calls or attend Neighborhood Meetings, her staff doesn't even know she is supposed to represent anyone north, and she didn't even bother to show up for the one Mayoral Candidate Debate held in the Northland.

You're overestimating the influence of the "association" the Kansas Real Estate Developers created to pimp Miller.

  7. A new captain for the Titanic?
Won't make a whole lot of difference.
The ice is all the same.
Lots of wasted campaign money and meaningless "reporting".
The KCMO residents and small businesses lose AGAIN.

  8. ^^^^ New captain for the Titanic is a good one if you think about the debt rate around KC. Nicely done. Should be the slogan for local election coverage.

  9. Both seem like Sly clones to me.

  10. you mean
We spend more per capita on servicing our debt than every peer city we examined except St. Louis (the other peer cities we looked at were Tulsa, Oklahoma City, Omaha, Indianapolis, Denver, and Louisville). Because cities with higher incomes are better able to handle debt, we also looked at the city income-to-debt ratio. The results weren’t flattering. Kansas Citians earn $5.28 in income for every $1 of debt the city carries. Louisville and Tulsa had much better ratios, ($35.92 and $17.66 for every $1 of city debt, respectively).

The City borrows money for lots of things. For example, a few years ago the city borrowed $10 million from the airport just to cover the costs of TIF commitments. Kansas City issued bonds to help pay down its debts for the Power & Light District; this reduced annual payments in the short term, but increased the total amount of the debt. As a result of existing debt, the city cannot pay for basic services such as tearing down dangerous homes—and so it must borrow again to generate the $10 million needed.

    FAVORS
    LUCAS!

  12. Took the poll and yes, voted Lucas. It’s legit, paid for by Central Market Research

  13. Think about it, it makes sense. Jolie is the status quo stay the course Titanic candidate. The known candidate. If you liked Sly, you liked Jolie.
She only drew what, 33% in the primary? Somebody can look it up. Every other vote was "NOT JOLIE." So they are much more likely to coalesce behind Quinton Lucas.

Her so-called victory in the primary was TERRIBLE. Not even within striking distance. This race is Quinton's to win. Adn him getting some serious union support speaks volumes.

The Northland is not excited about this race, and the commenter above shows why--Jolie has done a dreadful job representing not just the 4th district north of the river, but also Westport and Hyde Park!

Bubeye, also to the City Manager, Troy Schulte. You will love Keokuk Iowa. Please take Chris Hernandez with you.

favors Lucas! Also, remember the bigly cash from those KU connecteds in Larryville, the super-richies in the burbs in both MO and KS, and from well beyond these two states.

  18. Anybody who thinks it is OK to murder a baby 9 months old in its mother's womb should be not be in a position to make decisions. She spent a great deal of her time in the legislature making sure abortions flourished. Jolie cannot be my mayor.

    ReplyDelete
  19. ^^^ @ 10:01, Anybody who thinks that abortions are performed as late as the sixth month, let alone "murder a baby 9 months old in its mother's womb" needs to be institutionalized, or at least stop watching Tucker Carlson and his pack of right winger fringe nuts trying to destroy this Country.

    ReplyDelete
  20. You don’t need to watch Tucker Carlson to get those facts. Man -up, quit smokin’ your boyfriend’s pole and get informed.
