Work for better local cleanup didn't take hold as a deadlock emerges that will likely kill the effort . . .
"Council members earlier this year unanimously endorsed a resolution directing City Manager Troy Schulte’s office to come up with a plan bringing trash service in-house. But his proposal met with serious skepticism from members of the council’s city’s Finance & Governance and Neighborhoods & Housing committees on Wednesday. They tied 4-4 on an ordinance that would allow the city to execute the plan, effectively shelving it for the moment."
Translation: Wait another 4-years until the next KCMO primary.
Developing . . .
The water department is a train wreck so what makes them think that trash service would be any better?
ReplyDeleteSo far everything the city has tried to run has been a disaster.
ReplyDeleteTrash service is a nightmare as it is, so hell yes let the city completely take it over to turn it into a total cluster fuck.
What we going to do when people start shitting on the sidewalks like in SF?

They didn’t realize they don’t have enough trash trucks to do the job, you can thank sLIE for cutting them way back.
ReplyDeleteAnother mismanagement by the jokes on Oak. This momentum is great and city minions do not know how to handle it.
ReplyDeleteIn reality : whatever happens to your downtown, don't care.
ReplyDeleteIn reality your highways downtown are JOKE, but then that is perfectly appropriate.
ReplyDeletethe best part is going North on 1-35, exiting east under bartle, quickly merging left into the traffic and semis going east on i-70 to get to the one lane exit to continue North.
ReplyDeleteDoes the trash service go to the east side? Because I see trash all over the yards and roads....maybe that’s just normal.
ReplyDeleteif you know to go the i-35N on N side of loop, if you know such a thing could exist, you get the similar, with a little more time. traffic flows again crisscross, the i-35N has to merge left into i-70 flow to get to the 2 left exits to continue N, and the i-70 east has to go right to get the one right exit continuing east. LOL surprised more accidents don't happen. perhaps with regional growth.
ReplyDeleteany truckers want to weigh in their thoughts of going through downtown on 35 or 70?
ReplyDeletetruckers drive that shit more than i do, i happily defer to them.
ReplyDeletethey can pretend they are not being tracked and timed via GPS you Nasty 'human element' of the industry. would self driving trucks be better with quick merges?
ReplyDeletelearn to code truckers, learn to code.
ReplyDelete"In the world of commercial transportation and trucking in particular, we are still dealing with the human element. The best technology available is still only as good as the user’s ability to take advantage of it. "

Our part of town has the contractors. They do a great job. I'm afraid if the city takes over our trash pickup will join snow removal and pothole repair as things that don't get done.
