Kansas City Primary Postscript Ruckus

The first half of cowtown silly season is complete and now local pundits attempt to spin the results. Once again we turn to the GOLD STANDARD for political discourse in Kansas City to help explain returns and why most voters stayed far away from this contest.

Check the description:

"Mike Shanin talks to UMKC political science professor Elizabeth Vonnahme about voter turnout, key factors in the mayoral race, socialism and the electoral college. Ron Freeman, Jim Heeter, Gwen Grant and Annie Presley discuss Tuesday's primary election results, the continuing debate about gaining local control of the KC police department and the 2020 field of Democratic presidential candidates."

Take a look:

They convinced me to vote for Clay Chastain. Neither Jolie nor Quinton has much to offer Kansas City except an extension of Mayor James' policies.

  3. If low voter turnout is such a big issue then why doesn't the state make it easier to vote?

  4. If you really think low turnout is a problem, better candidates would be the best solution.

  5. If you're concerned about voter turnout, the solution is easy.
Move to the Kansas side or to any one of the other 114 municipalities in the metro where safe neighborhoods, good schools, well-maintained streets, reasonable utility bills, predictable trash pick-up, and all those other basics of everyday life are NOT too boring for local government to provide.
For KCMO residents doing the same thing, the same way, with the same kinds of "political celebrities" yields the same results time after time.
They make Lucy, Charlie Brown, and the football look unpredictable.

  6. You can purchase on line safely, why not vote on line ?

  9. WELCOME TO KC DYSTOPIA-UCKUS

Where most of those who can afford to live elsewhere do so, while still attempting to profit off the town whore which is KCMO.

Mike Shanin - host - lives in KANSAS
Elizabeth Vonnahme - UMKC - lives in KANSAS
Jim Heeter - former Chamber of Commerce - lives in Colorado, used to live in KANSAS
Gwen Grant - Urban League - actually lives in KC, but used to live in KANSAS
Annie Presley - consultant - lives in a MO suburb
Ron Freeman - consultant - lives in a MO suburb

In this recent KCMO primary election, I believe that Gwen Grant was the only person on this Ruckus episode who was actually an eligible voter.

How much difference is there really between Justus and Lucas? They'll both have taxpayers screaming, "Don't PHUCKUS!"

  10. So sad this show won't invite people like me on it who are not afraid to state the real facts instead of this fluff job Mike Shanin delivers every week. Ruckus is to mean, rise up, be heard, shake things up. Instead of pacifying the public this show show be stirring up the real angry the good people of this town keep hidden within themselves. Stir up the masses and get them to voting the dead weight, disloyal local politicians to hell out of town.

Could you imagine Chuck and I on this show? To be honest their ratings would go through the roof with people leaning out the windows screaming, "I'm as mad as hell and I'm not gonna take this anymore!'

    1. Yeah I can imagine it.

      Ruckus: mouthbreather edition.

"Good evening and welcome to Ruckus. Please change the channel now."

The only reason I would lean out my window would be to throw up.

  11. ^^Umm no. Two fat, mouth-breathing retards on the show? No thanks. You two baboons cannot even write a legible paragraph on a shitty blog for retards. Why would anyone want to hear you two humps butcher the English language on TV while looking at your ugly mugs?? Hard pass.

^^^^^ And your so special in what way? I have never seen you post anything that you will put your name to. So it's you who is a fat brained retard making hate posts all day long. Try as you may to discredit Chuck or Dave, all you do is make people pay even more attention to them. So you lose in the end and are only known as the troll on TKC. Wow, now there is a title folks are lining up to have.

  13. At least 1:31 knows the difference between "your" and "you're."

  14. I watched the show and I thought that Annie Presley had the comment of the night. Now she is a quiet talker and just kind of sits there but she said something along the lines of "What the results of the election told her was that there was 81% of registered voters that were undecided and not inspired by any candidate to vote for them. The undecided voter decided the election." She is right. This was the most milquetoast group of candidates I have ever seen. Eleven people running and no one of them could inspire you to go vote? Talk about voter suppression!
Plan to change the outcome in 74 days!

  15. Outstanding 1:47, but very weak and does not change a thing. Auto correct can be a real bitch sometimes and it's a blog so get over the major english correction bitching over a common error. You have no idea what the troll knows or does not know the difference about. They're a troll so that makes them despicable no matter how you want to spin it.
