Kansas City crews continue to investigate deadly home explosion

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -- Investigators spent the night Wednesday digging through rubble, trying to find clues as to what caused a deadly house explosion. The explosion happened about 4:30 p.m. near 15th Street and Fremont Avenue. Police blockades and caution tape blocked people from travelling through the area, guarding the possible crime scene after a body was found in the rubble.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Kansas City police are asking for help locating a missing 57-year-old woman Wednesday night. Beverly Williams-Pelton was last seen at 6 a.m. Tuesday at 1112 E. 41st St. in Kansas City. She is described as 5-foot-2, weighing 145 pounds with salt and pepper-colored hair and brown eyes.

Leawood Police Department seek public's help identifying church burglar

LEAWOOD, KS (KCTV) - Police are requesting the public's help in identifying a church burglar. A subject approached the door of a south Leawood church and proceeded to look for a way inside just after midnight on Wednesday. About forty minutes later, police said the suspect was able to open a window and then entered the church.

  5. On the recycling and trash sorting issue. Why can we not make JackCo prison inmates perform this work? What happened to work camps? They were successful, provided a benefit to society to offset the extreme costs of incarceration. Recycling on it's own is not profitable. So, take away the labor costs and what products are sold on to the private industry go back in to the prison system budget.
