The Effingham KS school district is in a bind and I believe it is the result of about 20 Kansas districts that refuse to settle the Gannon case in Kansas. With the State mandated to give now over $600 Million to schools the taxpayer is on the hook and they are tired of this debacle. Sorry Effingham kids.
ReplyDeleteAll school money should go into one fund then divide out across the state so other kids can have a little bit of what the rich kids of Johnson county see. Plus school administrators need to be making a whole hell of a lot less money per year.

Well, Tracy, whether UMKC left before or after, it would appear that the Kansas City Metro just doesn't have a large enough audience for the type of fare the Tivoli offered.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the Rio or one of the empty venues on the Kansas side can step forward to fill the miniscule need.
Until then, try North Kansas City, you might be surprised.

10:44 - so, North KC DOES have a large enough audience for the type of fare the Tivoli offered, but KC metro did not? If you're referring to the Screenland on Armour, not quite the same style venue, although I do like the place and hope it stays around for many years to come.
ReplyDeleteSorry to reply late - nope, the Metro as a whole doesn't have enough interested supporters, but the Screenland does provide a model for what a small cinema venue can do to survive (and even thrive).
