Glass recycling grows in Kansas City area

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -- China is no longer accepting the world's trash which is creating a recycling crisis in many cities in the United States. But, glass is one material not included as part of that problem. Most of it stays in Kansas City, but some of it leaves the metro and comes back as recycled beer bottles.

Flooded Farmers In Missouri Want Federal Disaster Assistance Like Nebraska and Iowa

Missouri Gov. Mike Parson is expected to make a federal disaster declaration this week, which can't come too soon for farmers and others needing assistance after devastating floods. A large area of northwestern Missouri near the state lines of Nebraska and Iowa is still underwater following the flooding caused by a "bomb cyclone" that hit in mid-March.

EFFINGHAM, Kansas - In 2014, a cash-strapped school district in rural northeast Kansas turned to its residents with a plea: Pay a little more in taxes annually so we can renovate classrooms, update the wiring and give students better spaces to learn. 1. The Effingham KS school district is in a bind and I believe it is the result of about 20 Kansas districts that refuse to settle the Gannon case in Kansas. With the State mandated to give now over $600 Million to schools the taxpayer is on the hook and they are tired of this debacle. Sorry Effingham kids.

  2. All school money should go into one fund then divide out across the state so other kids can have a little bit of what the rich kids of Johnson county see. Plus school administrators need to be making a whole hell of a lot less money per year.

  3. ^^YOU need to be make a whole hell of a lot less money per year. YOU are the problem. Fucking taker.

  5. Excuse me, but didn't the UMKC film class that was paying rent at the Tivoli leave BEFORE the theatre was forced to close for financial reasons???

    Actions have consequences, folks.

  6. Well, Tracy, whether UMKC left before or after, it would appear that the Kansas City Metro just doesn't have a large enough audience for the type of fare the Tivoli offered.

Maybe the Rio or one of the empty venues on the Kansas side can step forward to fill the miniscule need.

Until then, try North Kansas City, you might be surprised.

  8. 10:44 - so, North KC DOES have a large enough audience for the type of fare the Tivoli offered, but KC metro did not? If you're referring to the Screenland on Armour, not quite the same style venue, although I do like the place and hope it stays around for many years to come.

Sorry to reply late - nope, the Metro as a whole doesn't have enough interested supporters, but the Screenland does provide a model for what a small cinema venue can do to survive (and even thrive).

But, that isn't the route the "purists" at the Tivoli chose to follow, and as a Contemporary Philosopher recently said,

    "Actions have consequences, folks."
