DEMOCRACY FAIL: ONE VOTE DECIDED KANSAS CITY METRO MAYOR'S RACE!!!

This could be an inspirational story about a single voter empowered to change the status quo.

But it's not.

Instead . . .

ONLY ONE VOTER CAST A BALLOT IN NEARBY RANDOLPH, MO THIS WEEK!!!

Admittedly, Randolph is a nothing town that shouldn't exist and it's mostly just one of many Missouri schemes to write tickets to casino customers.

However, an AWESOME KICK-ASS TKC READER offers this EXCEPTIONAL write-up of the situation with a KCMO spin:

"One of the closest primaries in the metro. In Randolph apparently just one person voted, selecting the mayor and two of the three aldermen. (The third position, alas, drew no candidate.) You’d think at least all three people on the ballot would vote...They must not have received their 'vote Northland strong' signs."

You decide . . .

  1. Still better than AOC no vote socialism.

But I agree, this city needs to be incorporated into some another part of town.

  2. The rest of the residents were busy writing tickets so Randolph could pay the poll workers.

  4. So there were two ballots cast in the aldermen race but only one ballot cast for mayor? Probably because the election was unopposed for mayor?

This is awesome. Democracy is totally worth starting wars for :)

When originally designing the American flag, Betsy Ross draped the stars and stripes around her shoulders to create the bosom of democracy!!!

  6. @10:06, re-read the ballot - voters were to vote for three Aldermen.
The one lone voter voted for the Mayor and for the only two candidates for Alderman.

But the question is, considering the relative population sizes, isn't this about the same percentage turnout that Kansas City had?
