This is from a couple of days back but it's a fascinating quote from a NEARBY DYING CITY LAMENTING THE LOSS OF RETAIL BIZ as the Internets economy kills their town and local leaders don't really have any backup plan to replace income and jobs for their community. Checkit:
Independence in financial quicksand, city manager says
Independence, MO - Dwindling retail sales tax revenue has landed the city in trouble, according to Independence city manager Zach Walker. "It's eroding dramatically and rapidly, and we are really standing on financial quicksand right now," Walker said. For years Independence relied on sales tax revenue from its shopping districts to fill the general fund coffers.
Internet isn't killing business as fast as bad customers runoff good ones. Poor customer service is alo killing businesses.
ReplyDeleteThe square is such a nice place to visit too, good food and friendly people, this is the one place that would be a real bummer to lose.
ReplyDeleteThe Internet is killing society. Social media is killing rational face to face communication and community in general. The Internet shopping is undermining local commerce, it is killing us. Phones have placed into every second of our lives and removed our connection with our immediate surroundings. Unplugging of it is the only answer. Not likely to happen, kiss mankind a good bye kiss on your way to oblivion buddy.
ReplyDelete6:44 you are more than right! However the millenials are deaf as fuck, especially the democrate and liberal ones! its a hopeless cause, we cant stop their madness or get them to rationalize, They are creating their own demise, I will be long gone before all of this catches up to their spoiled ignorance thankfully!
ReplyDeleteJesus would unplug, and be discreet about it.

ReplyDeleteIn the future the names Gates, Bezos and Zuckerberg will be more vilified than Stalin, Mao and Hitler. Along with Clinton, Obama and Soros.
ReplyDeleteSays the rotting corpse of a geezer who nobody listens to anyway. Bye bitch!
ReplyDeleteSays the goo gobbling gayzer who's bigly triggered, always. Back to the BathHouse to lick your buttboiz asses!
DeleteWhy doesn't the city set up a web site like Amazon's and then link it to KC businesses. We could go to one site and order products sold in KC retail shops which could then be delivered on the same day by Uber or Lyft. It would be fast, it would eliminate shipping goods from all over the country, and it would support local merchants.
