Clean Missouri Trashed In Jeff City

Talk of "ethics" in politics is always a bad joke but here's the latest slap in the face to votes and a reminder that Democracy is mostly just for giggles in this part of the world and everywhere else . . . Checkit:

Voters in Missouri approved ethics reform. Republican lawmakers are now trying to undo it.

JEFFERSON CITY * Just as Democrats predicted, legislation that would reverse an ethics reform initiative approved by voters in November has surfaced in the Republican-led Missouri Legislature. In a maneuver engineered by Rep. Dean Plocher, R-Des Peres, a proposal initially introduced to ban lobbyists from giving any gifts to lawmakers has been amended to include changes in the way the state draws its political map.

  1. Remember when Republicans and Ethics used to go hand in hand? Geesus, our state and federal governments need a full blown enema (both sides). The PAC money floating around is filthy.

You can bag on people like AOC or Bernie all you want but at least they march to their own beat, not some PAC.

Ummmm. No. When was that? Also, if Democrats and ethics ever went hand in hand, I'd be curious to know when that was as well.

  3. Let's keep in mind that most voters are stupid. I would fully be in favor of a basic civics test or issue test prior to casting votes. I know, I know, that would be unfair to 90% of the dems base. With that in mind, most probably looked at the title and thought I want the environment clean and checked yes. Putting redistricting power in the hands of a single elected politician is stupid beyond imagination.

  4. @10:36 - well Dems have never run on their moral superiority either, that's straight out of the Republican playbook....well, it was, guess not anymore. Or if they are still trotting that out, that's a joke.

  5. Almost as stupid as releasing a "redacted" version of a 4--=page Report with 385 pages completely blacked out except for two words, "no" on page 18 and "collusion" on page 219?

    1. You lost. Again. And you fell for the biggest nonsense hoax in history.

Hint: go for an actual electoral strategy.

  6. 11:04: Good point except that Republicans' base would also be reduced by 90%.
