Once again the sordid topic of musical selection evokes controversy and hard feelings in this town's most embattled party district.
IS THE WESTPORT "NO PLAYLIST" RACIST OR AN ATTEMPT AT MUSICAL EQUITY?!?
More likely, it's social media drama that's probably not news but good enough to garner a few eyeballs as the public turns away local election coverage.
Checkit:
KCTV5: A popular Westport bar owner is hitting pause on a whole list of songs he says DJ’s are no longer allowed to play.
Fox4: ‘No playlist’ list at two popular Westport bars stirs controversy
Take a look:
You decide . . .
Of course it won't save Westport but it's really not up to fired DJs to enforce their will on places where they couldn't even keep a job.
ReplyDeleteRap and Hip Hop are a bane to a civil safe society.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a jewish conspiracy.
ReplyDeleteCould care less about Wasted Westport at this point. I go out of my way to avoid even driving though that mess.
ReplyDeleteYou're still driving?
DeleteHa!!! 9:11 got knocked the fuck out!!!!!!!!
DeleteDo not employ DJs. Instead have a jukebox with the type of music the venue wants and customers have to pay to hear the music.
ReplyDeleteWestport is garbage
ReplyDeleteJust turn on a radio at the bar.
ReplyDeleteTell the drunks to go fuck themselves if they complain.
Bill Cosby says we need to be able to hear these wonderful songs.
ReplyDeleteWho care about that fucking place? It's a pit.
ReplyDeleteDon't like their music policy? Just don't go there. You won't be missed and that's what really chaps your butt isn't it?
ReplyDeleteWestport rules because there are no geezers there! They are not welcome nor wanted. It’s really nice to be able go to a place that’s geezer free. It was busy and fun last and not a geezer to be found!!!
ReplyDeleteNow if a unicorn would just stick his horn up your ass life would be utopian huh?
Delete11:39 no they didn't, you did.
ReplyDeleteI'm 78and was there most of the day yesterday and until 11:00 last night!
ReplyDeleteDidn't see you there punky - Momma lock the door to her Basement an you couldn't get out?
I saw you pops. You were so fucking drunk and mumbling to yourself. You didn’t even youyou pissed yourself. I was one of the guys that threw your drunk ass out of Kelly’s! Remember you laid in the gutter while the dogs pissed all over you. Remember???
DeleteMy bar, my rules, don’t like it, don’t come here, don’t need your kind effing everything up for everybody else
ReplyDelete11:42 got knocked the fuck out like the little bitch always gets knocked the fucked out.
ReplyDeleteYeah....I haven’t been to Westport in years. Friend of mine (a female) had a gun pulled on her and was robbed there. Haven’t been since she told me about it.
ReplyDeleteShe actually asked the scruffy black male why he was doing it she said his response was “my kid need diapers”. So, a young black male in KCMO is pulling guns on women because he can’t find a way to get diapers for his baby. Oh I’m sorry to share that story....dammit I forgot to use the proper gender pronouns and remove race from the story because that would be insensitive.
Now, geezer boy likes to crack jokes about people not having a life by not going to Westport but he is such an idiot. Some of us like to patron areas that are not violent. I like to go to places where people don’t get shot often....like prairie fire. Places where the cost of dining and entertainment weed out the trouble.
^^^^Ease, please please keep your junky ass in Prairie Firre! Don’t you ever come over the state line! You belong with the other fuktards in JOCO!!!! You are never welcome in KC! You should also keep your punk ass of Log about KC too. Maybe go find one about JOCO and stay there
ReplyDeleteBunch of white trash in westport. Freaks, weirdos, thugs, etc.
ReplyDelete2:28 that’s your memory of a usual night out for you! You just got knocked the fuck out bitch! Again! Hahahahaha!
ReplyDeletei used to do the PR for Confetti, the nightclub half a mile up a hill from Bannister Mall. They too used music to control the ethnic draw of the crowd. Because they found that when the population was more than 15% black, the white customers left. So they would call Red Alert to the DJ who then played 4 country songs in a row! It was like a dog whistle--black customers hate country music. I'd explain it as "no anapestic beat", but that would go way over the heads of most TKC readers.
ReplyDeleteThat worked. But what got Confetti in trouble with the law was their "no goatee policy." Instituted because many black men cannot grow full beards, so they wear goatees. Whereas the only white man who sported a goatee was David Niven. (Again, check the wiki, dudes.)
Well, Confetti upset the wrong customer. Reggie White I believe was his last name, great guy. Now an artist at Interurban Art studios. Was a cameraman for KCTV5. Sued. Confetti lost the suit, I think.
So it sounds like Johnny Kaws is borrowing from the Confetti playbook of the 80's. It is troubling that one man owns TWO nightclub/bars in Westport and is adding 4 more. This ain't Disneyland!
I only go to Westport for the Tivoli--best movies in town. But until KCMO repairs the potholes, in June, it's not worth driving KCMO streets at night-- and risking major damage to my car. So only matinee movies for me. No bars for me, no rap. Just saw Salvador Dali/Search for Immortality there. Now HE had a great goatee.
Owners should hire John "Dr. Dirty" Valby to come in and play his song "Who gives a Fuck" all night for the haters.
ReplyDeleteAhh the sexy, sensuous and always mysteriously alluring Tracy chimes in. Well said Tracy. Walt Coffey had a rule at the old Longbranches that was sports was always on the T.v.s with no sound even during Chiefs and Royals games and people bitched and moaned but he didn't care. There is an old rule in business 'He who has the gold makes the rules'. End of discussion.
ReplyDeleteSo if I go to Club Mingles at 86th & Troost as the white guy that I am can I demand to hear some country music? Can I go to social media or sue because I don't hear Achy Breaky Heart? Should I alert the news?
