TKC Saturday Night Playlist: Council Lady Heather Hall Earns Trash Talk Progress Amid Kansas City Election Season Hype

Under the radar there's important Kansas City legislation that holds more benefit for taxpayers than corporate giveaways or election season promises.

Once again, Northland Council Lady Heather Hall champions more practical concerns whilst most other politicos are busy giving away the store.

A note she recently sent out to council colleagues:

"Unfortunately the trash vote was overshadowed by the KCI vote but I feel this is even more important as it's a basic citizen service that we should be getting right consistently throughout the city. So, I'm pleased that after three years of research and community involvement, today I introduced Resolution 190159 to direct the City Manager to develop a comprehensive city-wide plan to improve Trash and Recycling in Kansas City. I’ll keep you posted on next steps. Thank you to my colleagues for your positive vote today!"

Clarification about this ordinance amid recent talk about privatization:

"The resolution asks the city manager to develop a plan to take trash and recycling in house because for some reason the one thing the city gets right is our central city trash collection."

Credit to Council Lady Hall. There's still a lot of fighting ahead over the airport, fair housing and the rate of local violence crime . . . But trash service is a very real KCMO concern that deserves attention and impacts locals every day.

And so we offer this playlist on the ever-present topic of trash tonight . . .

As always, thanks for reading tonight and have a safe and fun Saturday night.

  1. Hall actually talks about real issues instead of pie-in-the-sky promises. Very novel approach. Wish the rest of the council would follow her lead. Then maybe more people might actually show up to vote.

And to think it only took three years to tell the city manager to do a better job! Hahahahaha!

  4. Troy can only focus on one thing, the airport, at a time. Any more than that and he appears confused with a foggy and frosty mind.

  5. ^^^^ Good call. Disagree with the airport vote. But if anybody can fix all these damn trash bags all over my neighborhood all week. Kudos to them.

  6. How many years will it take Troy to come up with a comprehensive plan to straighten out the trash mess? He’ll probably be long gone before this city gets it right.

  7. ^^ It will take decades because KCMO is all trash.

  8. Great job Heather! Only took you two years after about 50,000 complaints from your district. It was seriously thousands of 311 complaints. Great urgentu here.

  9. I like Heather Hall. She's one of a dangerously small minority on the council that actually gives a shit about the people as opposed to bending over and spreading their buttcheeks for every developer that comes calling for a handout.

That said, she did vote 'yes' on this airport fiasco. So she loses points with that as that is going to be a major disaster for KCMO. Especially once the REAL price to build that thing soars way over the $1.5 billion dollars the airlines are "supposedly" offering to cover. Who's going to cover the cost overruns? And who's going to cover the costs once the airlines backout after 9 years after they realize they aren't profiting like they thought and like they were told because the projections for increased passengers was grossly inflated much like how things were grossly inflated for the P&L Distrct after taxpayers were promised they wouldn't have to pay a dime?

    Sense a theme here?
