TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! KANSAS CITY DOESN'T CARE: POLLING ESTIMATES PRIMARY VOTER TURNOUT AT 8% OR LESS!!!

With a crowded mayoral contest and plenty of upstart council candidates looking to prove themselves, voters are mostly turning away from the upcoming April 2nd election according to recent polling.

Election boards are paid to say different and they consistently overestimate the number of voters before ballots are cast. Meanwhile the last polling shared with our blog community reports that the primary ballot is "low interest" even by modest KCMO standards.

To wit . . .

NEW VOTER REGISTRATIONS FOR THE APRIL 2ND PRIMARY WERE PALTRY AND POLLSTERS PREDICT PATHETIC TURNOUT AMONG FREQUENT VOTERS!!!

Now, we underline three reasons why KC pollsters are predicting low turnout:

The dearth of ew or renewed voter registrations are a good indication of election disinterest but let's dive even deeper . . .

There's a myth of a Northland voter surge but don't forget that last mayoral election Clay County was a non-factor. Moreover, there's so little interest in KCMO politics across the bridge that two of the Council seats on the nice side of the bridge were uncontested.

Insiders have also shown us that small individual contributions to candidates are at an all time low. Regular voters aren't donating money because they're not interested. The bulk of the campaign funding is coming from special interests, friends & family and a bunch of b-list lawyers as usual.

To wit . . .

BLAME SOCIAL JUSTICE SAMENESS FOR KANSAS CITY VOTER APATHY!!!

Nearly all of the candidates running tout a progressive point of view in one way or another. The absence of any "bad guy" other than Prez Trump faraway in D.C. makes these SJW heroics far less impressive.

However, let's look on the bright side . . .

LOWER VOTER TURNOUT GIVES EVERY BALLOT MORE POWER AND LIMITS THE INFLUENCE OF VOTING BLOCS!!!

Kansas City is dominated by special interests but with fewer voters going to the polls overall -- Those who make the journey to the ballot will have a greater share of influence which threatens traditional KCMO Geopolitics that turns every election into a culture war.

Still, there's no denying that candidates have failed to spark much interest in the upcoming election and newsies are doing an even worse job of feigning interest without trying to play kingmaker.

Only on TKC is our blog community willing to confront the status quo with a reality check regarding small town political celebrities who seem to be having a hard time finding a constituency, fan base or even cash with no strings attached.

Developing . . .

  1. It's not all about money. The candidates are doing a great job going to forums, that's where a lot of great discussions are happening. Some of them have been very well attended. That is the better sign of interest rather than cold, hard data.

    1. ^^^ Rule +1 is that whenever anyone says that it's not about money. It's about money.

And those forums are full of busybody old ladies who don't have anything else to do on a Tuesday night. Most of them will forget to vote and watch their favorite dating show on TV. Wide angle shots of small rooms shouldn't give these crap candidates too much hope.

    2. So, the point here shouldn't be that we don't want people to vote. That's counter productive. Maybe we should start talking about what we can do to get more registered voters to show up? That would be way more useful than just trying to play "gotcha" with people doing their best and running for office. That's what's wrong with the media in general and this blog in particular.

  2. ^^^ the GO-FEr sounds worried. He's a Jolie supporter and knows she is not doing well.

  3. Wow, residents of KCMO city limits are pathetic! Can’t even pull a 10% turnout to vote? People in other countries would kill just to get the chance to vote.

I bet if there was some government cheese at the polling locations there would be lines all the way down MLK.

    ReplyDelete
  4. The candidates are all the same, tax and spend Democrats.

    Move.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Just wait till the general election. Quinton vs. Jolie is a reason to puke not vote.

    ReplyDelete
  6. In an ultra low-turnout contest Steve Miller wins, and Glynn comes in a distant 2nd. Low-turnout means campaigns need to drag their voters to the polls, and Miller and Glynn are the only two mayoral candidates who identify voters and make a list for that purpose. Both campaigns have been doing this since October. They will have the list for an effective Get Out The Vote operation. Miller with the help of Jeff Roe has both the organization and the money to make this a Republican town. Stick a fork in the Socialists because they are done.

  9. OK, gopher. If you really want to know why voter interest is so low, it's because any resemblance between what the candidates promise and what they deliver is purely coincidental.

Take Sly, for example. KCPT ran a piece on his visit to Marlborough when he first ran for mayor. He was going to do wonders and shit cucumbers and get Marlborough cleaned up. Oh yeah. Then he robs our schools and libraries, not to mention taxpayers, to get apartments, hotels, and a useless streetcar built downtown while ignoring the city's infrastructure and the neighborhoods. Even the Plaza is going to pot. I drove Brush Creek yesterday--very slowly--the right lane is a collection of craters just west of Wornall. SW Trafficway and Westport Road are no picnics, either.

Maybe our candidates for mayor should get out and see what a mess the city is once they leave downtown.

  10. Could it possibly be that voters are turned off by a city hall that ignores our votes and does things we don't want anyway? It really doesn't matter who is on the council and who is the mayor as the developers, lawyers, and construction folks will still run things.

Where do I get my Clay Chastain yard sign?

    Maybe, just maybe, Miller

    ReplyDelete
  12. Or Take Jolie Justice, who has 1 in 5 of her constituents located north of the River, and has NEVER attended a neighborhood meeting or anything than wasn't a "mayoral campaign forum" or an "KCI Public planning event".

That's why she's doomed, regardless of how much "cat meat" she consumes.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Miller really has out organized all of them. I did not expect that. Did not know Roe was behind it but that makes sense.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Voters learn quickly that the election box isn't where decisions are made in Kansas City. If you want to do something worthwhile on election day, go volunteer at a soup kitchen. You'll feel better about yourself and they can really use the help.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I ordered a Miller yard sign after clicking on an internet ad at about 10 on a Tuesday night, and the sign was delivered to my yard by the time I got home from work on Wednesday. That's class. That's how I think he will run the city.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Yardsigns don't vote asshole.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Did you see what the democrat mayor in New York City bill deblasio just did? He banned meat from school lunches on every Monday because of climate change. That’s the lunacy of the party in power in LC. I would not be surprised if something that stupid happens here.

    ReplyDelete
  18. ^^No I didn't, because this thread is about low voter turnout, not Bill Deblasio. Maybe find a friend so you can share this boring shit with? Stick to the topic dummy!

  25. Jeff Roe is the king of Kansas City and All-American Politics and its time for the Socialists and perverts to admit it.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Voting in KCMO municipal elections is like stating your opinion of what you want the weather to be that day.
    Irrelevant.
Regardless of the issues "discussed" in the "forums", the same kinds of people, or in many cases the SAME people, do the same thing, the same way year after year.
And their priorities have nothing to do with the interests or concerns of KCMO residents and small businesses.
    Why vote?
Moving to one of the 114 other cities in the metro is the most realistic long-term answer.
Which is why 85% of the residents in the metro DON'T live in KCMO.

    ReplyDelete
  27. And this is why things like shiny new toys get built because the wrong folks get voted into office probably because the special interest groups get their people to the voting booths and the rest stick their heads in the sand.

In Kansas City on election day the most scarcest thing to be found on the streets is a voter.

    ReplyDelete
  28. ^^^as opposed to the fiscally stupid repubs. Sure thing dude. You all pretend to care about the city's debt, while giving a pass to the GOP who blew a hole in the federal deficit that will have your children's children paying that off. Such hypocrisy on this blog.

  36. Kansas City is a dying city. Like Baltimore, Detroit, Selma, East St. Louis and dozens of other cities. Democrats, elected by way of the minority vote, engage in profligate, short-sighted, pernicious, tax and spend policies that result in economic disaster. That disaster is then blamed on white people, when, in fact, the demographics dictate the "taker" voting base, depleting the resources of the "Maker" white electorate.

Whites move to the suburbs and what is left, is rich Socialist scum populating City Hall and poor as hell minorities even worse off than before the demographic change.

In South Africa, blacks in the streets, hope every day for a return to Apartheid because life was better for them then, than now, under Mandella's legacy.

While this metamorphosis takes place, we all pretend it is not happening or we will be crucified in the public stocks. The "Narrative" of "Racial Injustice" as the cause of the readily apparent destruction of the city is the thin, lying patina that covers the truth of the cancer that is "Identity Politics" and Socialism gone wild.

Machiavelli said, that in the end, people get the government they deserve.

I am dead, in a black on white hate crime, that no one remembers, because the media hides the truth in support of the Progressive agenda that Gas Lights us all.

  41. 1:51 you're young no doubt. History would prove you wrong, but you're too ill-informed to know about things like that.
As a young child I remember being taken downtown to events, shopping, eating out, even the Christmas parades and such all the time. My parents even took me to see The Beatles when they played at the old ballpark and going downtown later for dinner. It was a weeknight and there were huge crowds everywhere. Every year less and less trips were made to downtown for such starting about 1970. Now as an old geezer as you like to call people like me there isn't really much call to go downtown anymore but maybe once or twice a year if that. No you're clueless as to what downrown use to be like and too ignorant to learn either. I remember when nobody was afraid to go eat at Arthur Bryants or Dixons Chilli when it was down off Truman Road late in the evening. Use to go to the KC Sports Show back when it was in the Municipal Auditorium and the arguments afterwards of where to eat, Dixons or Bryants. Another talked about favorite place was the place called Municipal Auditorium Grill where great food was served there for a place that looked like a dive. Beat anything the P&L now has to offer. Those kind of conversations are long gone because downtown was ignored by the jerks elected to run the city and now it's on life support and only as long as the taxpayers keep pumping millions upon millions of dollars into places the mass majority of people have no desire to go to.

  53. You just gotta love Democrats. Last week, a Muslim in the House Of Representatives mouths off about Jewish money in politics (She was right actually.) and the Democrat leadership loses it's mind, because Jewish money DOES lubricate the corrupt, blinkered, brain dead Progressive agenda.

Jewish bucks DO run the show.

    https://www.takimag.com/article/truth-or-trope/

I am not saying it is good or bad, it just is what it is.

Then, after Democrats go crazy because Ilan Omar might be killing the Jewish golden goose, they decide to placate their Jewish donors with a resolution condemning anti-semitism, which ends up all about the evils of "White Supremacy" and fuckin ZILCH about Ilan Omar, who you can bet your fuckin life and the farm, hates Jews like Hitler.

The news cycle moves on and Democrats are back on message.
