TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! CURSED MISSION GATEWAY WORK GRINDS TO HALT!!!

Our TKC Blog Community has followed the misadventures of Mission Gateway for quite some time because it's proof that suburbanite politicos are just as clueless about managing development as their urban core counterparts . . . The trouble development also reveals increasing economic difficulty in an otherwise (supposedly) enclave . . .

An now . . .

AWESOME INSIDERS SHARE DEETS ABOUT MISSION GATEWAY CONSTRUCTION STOPPAGE DESPITE BIG PROMISES OF AN UPCOMING DEBUT!!!

Here's the word . . .

"No work has happened here for at least a week and some level of demobilization has taken place. It has all the appearances of a shut down by the General Contractors, both of which I once worked for. I know that both Supts would still be present at the office trailers no matter what unless they were pulled off. I suspect payment issues . . ."

Developing . . .

Actually, it's not developing but more likely still undeveloped.

More than likely is weather related. I know of people in outside construction work that have not got to work for two months now.

trust me, this is not weather related.

I said originally when they leveled the center that it would never be finished and stand by that prediction.

You mean to tell me that a "developer" should actually have some serious money if there's going to be any chance at all of building something?
Someone tell Sly and the gang, quick!
Sorry, WAY too late.
This Mission fiasco has cost that little city's taxpayers millions and the sucking sound isn't going away any time soon.
More local electeds who have been roped in by big promises and impossible dreams.
Sad.

The mall that was there was actually pretty good. Can they just build that again?

My money says Super Dave is right.

Absolutely correct. It has been nightmare watching this project. The premise of luxury living space next to Shawnee Mission Trafficway is laughable. I'd rather they stopped work and reevaluate then continue on this path. No one is going to pay half a million dollars to overlook not-so-scenic Mission, Kansas.

I'm sure the weather plays some part of it. Bundt if you seen the finances of this project you would know that it is built on Shaky Ground. Just like the damn airport they just wanted to get started and hoped everything would come together at the last minute. Horrible plan and an even worse outcome.

Agree. The old Mission Mall was awesome. Easy parking, a decent Dillard’s, a good TexMex restaurant. Miss it.
