Kansas City Unemployment Rising But The Government Is Still Hiring



Reality check on the local economy that's a bit more low-key than partisan hacks from either side presume.

MARC: Kansas City Starts 2019 at 1.1 Million Jobs

"According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Kansas City MSA added 13,500 jobs over the 12 months ending in January. The top growth sectors were education/health care, government (mostly local government), professional business services and manufacturing.

Our regional unemployment rate climbed to 3.8 percent in January, up from 3.1 percent in December."

Gubmint has always been the biggest employer in KC metro. Unless we can get Amazon after all. That's not going to change any time soon.

I have had a good paying FT sales job open for over a month and not one single person has applied. I don't think people want to work, they just want government handouts.
