ReplyDeleteTwo years following the great Kansas blizzard of 1886, there was the even worse "Schoolchildren's Blizzard" of 1888. Kids walking home from school in one of the Dakotas were caught in a sudden blizzard. Dozens if not hundreds died. I remember reading that after the storm three brothers who froze to death in each others arms had to be thawed out so they could be buried separately. Like in Kansas two years earlier, cattle froze to death where they stood.
ReplyDeleteIf those events happened today, there would be a dozen bills in Congress to eliminate the internal combustion engine and get all our energy from solar panels and wind turbines, and the Star would be publishing daily newsitorials condemning thermostats set above 65 degrees (except in the Star's offices of course). Thank goodness we now have all that extra CO2 to keep us warmer in the winter.
You’re boring.
