Kansas City Refuses To Take Over FAILING 18th & Vine District Buck O'Neil Center

The pitch was shut down today in committee as this building needs EPIC repairs and City Hall hasn't found a way to make the rest of the district self-sustaining despite $100-MILLION worth of investment over the past generation.

    And when what little private "fund raising" dries up.
    It's off to city hall to dial for dollars to cover the tab.
    The taxpayers are never in on the planning or take-off for these deals.
    They just become the revenue source of last resort.
    It never changes.

  10. The City should release the annual overhead costs of the 18th and Vine District along with the Jazz Museum and its overseers. This annual cost should be looked at closely with an audit to see where this money goes and for what purpose. The City should also explore a long term plan on how the City can sell these buildings and eliminate this overhead. This area has been an expensive non-performing asset which the City needs to eliminate from its budget.
