Kansas City Northland Begs For Representation Beyond Councilman Scott Wagner's Disappointing Campaign
Here's a far too optimistic missive on the election that not only overlooks voting history but doesn't even bother to mention how deeply disengaged this enclave has become . .. For the primary this vote might not be a non-factor but this piece argues otherwise. Take a look:
Northland Voters To Kansas City Mayoral Candidates: Come And Knock On Our Doors
When Erin and Alex Olson moved to the Northland from midtown Kansas City a few years ago, their friends had some strong reactions. Many of them had never spent time north of the Missouri river. "It's like the great unknown to a lot of people," Alex Olson says.
Your all going to become Liberal Socialist Lesbians.
ReplyDeleteDeal with it.
The Northland doesn't need "Representation", it needs DEANNEXATION!
ReplyDeleteThis area needs to change it's name to achieve any kind of city attention.... "Downtown North" would be perfect.
ReplyDeleteNo mayoral candidates are coming to the eastside either but none of them give a damn about this side of town.
ReplyDeleteThey only care about Brookside and downtown.
ReplyDeleteKnock on my door up north, we ignore you big government types.
ReplyDeleteAs far as campaigns, Wangner has tons of big signs everywhere in the north. Why? 2-3 developers are with Wagner and Nolte for more tif money as they can’t make money except or but for tif subsidies. Great businessmen, lol.
So yes Wagner has a campaign and Miller sends me cards - the last said he “listens”, but the funny thing is that the word “listens” is black lettering on a black background. Lmfao, another crack head consultant who printed and didn’t check the end product.
KCMO is too big geographically to be effectively managed. It should be divided into separate cities along county lines. Let the MLK and TIF crowds fend for themselves with their own choice of leasership. Make KCI a separate entity supporting itself.
ReplyDeleteAgree that de-annexation is the only thing that gets the interest of the northland.
ReplyDeleteHere's another vote for de-annexing the northland. Who's up for that?
ReplyDeleteBut now it appears Clay County is as fucked up as Jackson. Property value assessments and resulting taxes are vastly increasing and no staff in Liberty to deal with appeals. Fighting the state auditor. Fishy, smelly typical pols feeding at the public trough. Never ends.
