One of Kansas City's toy train transit leaders offered a bit of election advice which is strange given that he second guessed his own political adventures.
However, a recent tweet offered a curious bit of advocacy . . .
"Candidates can pander and use reductive "downtown vs neighborhoods" rhetoric that dismisses 30,000 residents of the city's most populous neighborhood for one big reason: downtowners don't vote."
Look at that statement closely . . . It's nearly a cry for unity . . . But then he claims Downtown SUPREMACY over all of KCMO because of size . . . Using that logic that lumps every part of Downtown into one category . . . The NORTHLAND STILL OUTPACES DOWNTOWN in terms of population size, job growth and economy. Sadly this "neighborhood" doesn't but nearly as many of the resources allotted to the enclave of hipsters and the "creative class" inside the loop.
And now the match-up inspired by the otherwise insightful statement . . .
IS THE UPCOMING VOTE REALLY A CONTEST BETWIXT KANSAS CITY NEIGHBORHOODS VS. DOWNTOWN?!?!
You decide . . .

Northlanders don't vote either. 4 years ago only 7% of Clay County showed up to vote.
Happy rock is actually a very unhappy place to be.
Not really. They are very grateful they are not in Kansas City.
^^and yet the majority of residents happily live in KC. Weird.
^^^ you live in leawood, bitch.
^^and yet I don't. Dickmunch. Weird.
Even ardent transit advocates admit that streetcars are stupid. The economic development benefits that supposedly come from streetcars are purely imaginary, and even if they weren’t, it would be hard to describe streetcars — whose average speed, APTA admits, is less than 7.5 miles per hour — as “critically needed.”

Toy Train Transit or Shuttling Cocks ???
So the dubious claim that 30,000 people live in downtown KCMO makes that a key to winning elections?
30K out of a metro population of over 2.5 million.
Big big frogs in a tiny little cow town pond.
Momentum!
Ooooooh we'll isn't that special.
Frankly, it doesn't matter if you vote. The council does what it wants anyway. Disillusionment reinforced on a regular basis.
It'z frozty!
Are their ANY straight people left in this town?
^^^ Say What?
What the hell is there to do downtown? Besides Sprint Center and The Drunken Idiots district?
^^Maybe get the fuck up off the couch, and go there and find out for yourself loser!
12:50 Lot's of stuff going on. If you enjoy blowing money on sub par mediocre offerings.
Staubio's done pretty good for himself. Back and side door opportunities abound for a smart guy like him.
The irony, in Kansas City the Democrats don't really want people to vote. In Kansas it is the Republicans who want to discourage the vote. Very different reasons in both cases, yet same ridiculous intent.
Don't have people vote but take money from every two bit money players in town. Typical.
Downtowners are registered to vote in other states because they get better tax breaks there.
Downtown is a just a scam. It's all sizzle and no steak. Lived there and the condos are cheap and not worth the money.
Anybody but Jolie Justus
The 30,000 is if you include places like 27th & Prospect in "Downtown".
