KANSAS CITY MAYORAL DEBATE AFTERMATH 2019: EVERYBODY LOST!!!

First, TKC disagreement . . .

KCPT host directly challenges pollsters and claims widespread interest in this mayoral campaign because more than 500 people showed up to a library event on a Wednesday night.

Fact check:

- Did you see the crowd? It looked like somebody just cancelled a bingo night and offered this place as alternative entertainment. Yes, the old school denizens of this town do their civic duty & vote. They, deservedly, get free rides to the polls but this isn't the blue wave by a long shot .

- The crowd was PACKED & STACKED with political operatives. That's not enthusiasm it's a work night for the political class who rarely have to earn their money.

- Social check - The FB live steam garnered about 3k views, 47 likes & 71 shares . . . A year ago a KANSAS CITY NAKED DUDE ON AN ATV IN THE MIDST OF A THRILLING POLICE CHASE set the world on fire and garnered FAR GREATER interest.

Nevertheless, here are the low lights . . .

You decide . . .

  1. Sounds like Alissia Canady & Steve Miller did very well. That would be a great primary where we actually talked about issues.

  2. Let’s hope Sly’s choice gets taken out in the primary. We don’t need more years of lying and wasting money.

  3. KCMO will win with Glynn.

  5. 7:22, Please, please explain to me how you think Miller did “well”...I just do not see it. Of all the candidates, he has the least substance; he speaks in rhetoric. Can he please talk about anything other than potholes?

  7. TOP PHOTO -- KC PROMOTING TRANSGENDERISM (KCPT)

Nicky Haines elicited WALES from the audience when she detailed her sex-change operation!!!

  8. Haines really is a lightweight clown.
No wonder he fits in so well with the insider crowd.

  9. I thought Clay Chastain showed more energy and knowledge of how to move KC forward than anyone else. Clay can take us all the way...

  10. Phil Glynn -- has never owned up to his scheming with the Jason Kander campaign. He should run for the Council if he honestly wants to get involved.

Alissia Canady -- very good performance here. KC Northeast High graduate, UMKC, North Dakota School of Law, Asst. Jackson County Prosecutor, City Council. Harsh words for Sly James and Troy Schulte's misplaced budget priorities. Perhaps the best representative for KC's working-class.

Scott Wagner -- Mayor Pro-Tem who is more about doing the right thing for taxpayers than seeking attention for himself.

Jolie Justus -- not a viable candidate for those opposed to corruption.

Jermaine Reed -- not a viable candidate

Steve Miller -- should serve on the Council before aiming for the Mayor's desk. Very cozy relationship with the real estate developer/Mission Hills crowd since he's a construction attorney. Would likely continue the James policy of liberal tax giveaways, while neglecting the under-served areas of the city.

Quinton Lucas -- fundamentally, Lucas believes he's owed something for coming out of a childhood of poverty. His real issue is with his mother and sisters, but he's so locked into his role as the young black man as savior, that he keeps chasing a dream of rescuing KC's dysfunctional. Quinton should buy a house in a nice neighborhood, live a comfortable life, and serve as an example for others to escape the cycle of poverty.

Scott Taylor -- not a viable candidate due to his practice of selling political influence to real estate developers. There are multiple cases of Taylor steering subsidized development projects through approval, and then receiving generous contributions from those who benefit. Wife Cathy Jolly was involved with convicted County Executive Mike Sanders political shenanigans.

  11. Isn't this picture pretty much the same as black face?

Libs, especially white liberal "journalists" and politicians can get away with anything.

  12. What are you talkin about clay was the only candidate really talkin about the rest of the candidates we're talking about subjects like the qualifications like they were applying for a job.Let choose a candidate who could move for it the city in the best interest of the taxpayers not private developers

  13. they ought to have to publish platforms, then if they are just more of the same it would show. Clay has some good points.

Jolie was not my cup of tea, way too go along with Sly and continue what has been. Help the neighborhoods and communities, not Sly's grandiose efforts
