Kansas City Latinx Artist Leads The Fight Against Cultural Appropriation

Latinx is an alternative to Latino, Latina and even Latin@. Used by scholars, activists and an increasing number of journalists, Latinx is quickly gaining popularity among the general public. It’s part of a “linguistic revolution” that aims to move beyond traditional conceptions of native people and is inclusive of the intersecting identities of Latin American descendants.

Accordingly, here's a glimpse at a rising star Kansas City artists who challenges even more allegedly exploitative practices. Checkit:

Some of the most iconic European masterpieces convey simple, universal feelings, but white artists do not have a monopoly on expressions of love, bravery, wanderlust, curiosity, or compassion. Artist Chico Sierra's awareness of this fundamental truth permeates his exhibition, "Appropriation Nation," in a beautiful and enticing way.

  1. Oh great another ridiculous Millennial buzzword, apparently for migrants who can't decide if they're Latinos or Latinas.

My word of the day is 'DeportX'. It means to send the undocumented back as fast as possible and by any means available, including catapault.

  3. Here's a fundamental truth, Chico:

When you produce art that looks like something other than an extremely bad 70's album cover, then come and talk to me about the masterpieces of a superior culture.

  5. It looks kinda weird but I like it.

That said, I don't wanna hear about a bunch of Spaniards who raped and pillaged those poor Aztecs and Incas telling me I suck because I was born white.

    Cultural appropriation?

    Whites invented fuckin everything.

If you are worried about Cultural Appropriation, then get the fuck out of your car, no planes for you, no medicine (Read the article) NO SOUP FOR YOU!!!

Then, after you are living once again, under a tree eating a banana, you can complain about whitey wearing dreads.

  7. It’s sad that because he sucks as an artist that the whole reason he sucks is because of whitey, can’t be because his Art is only appreciated by a very tiny group of people, no, it’s because of whitey. Sorry dude, white guilt is over and has been for awhile now, you missed the proverbial boat!

"Latinx" is a racist term because it culturally appropriates (another PC BS term) the REAL Latins, which is to say, the descendants of the Roman Empire, whose language was called, guess what! --Latin. Italians, Romanians, Moldavians, the others. I love Latin-Americans. But they don't own a word. More Politically Correct nonsense ex parte stultorum qui linguam latinam nec apprehendere possunt neque numquam intelligere potebunt. I have an idea--let's call ourselves Americans. Except for our foreigner friends who are, I trust, just visiting and spending tourist dollars, not appropriating American jobs.
