Quick update on the local murder count still rising amid bitter cold . . .
"Officers found a car one block east on Prospect Avenue with three people inside who had all been shot. The spokesperson said one person died at the scene. The other two shooting victims are in the hospital. One is in serious condition, the other stable, according to police. "
KSHB: KCPD: Triple shooting leaves 1 dead, 2 injured late Monday night
KMBC: 1 Dead in triple shooting at 51st and Prospect
KCTV5: It happened about 10:15 p.m. Monday near the intersection of East 51st Street and Prospect Avenue on the city's east side.
Again, this is part of a winter homicide spike -- The 22nd homicide so far compared to 16 at this time last year.
Developing . . .
So I guess we're not any closer to ending the cycle of violence.
ReplyDelete^^^ Nope, just getting started.
DeleteWhat's weird is that there hasn't been any real talk about a new plan to curb violence or even a word from so many of the anti-crime groups on the city's payroll. Just more people promising to "talk" about crime once they get in office.
DeleteIsn't that one of those up and coming vibrant areas where spandex clad bicyclists adorn the streets everywhere?
ReplyDeleteYou meant spandex clad faggots?
Delete^^^^^ Lulz.
ReplyDeleteOn track for a record setting year in crime and killings. Daily our black residents are shooting huge ass holes in Fake Doctor Evans story. Black on black crime on the rise and even the blacks don't give a fuck. They just whine some more and blame it all on whitey.
ReplyDelete^^^^ I blame @8:54 for being a scumbag.
ReplyDeleteWe are set to shatter the record once it warms up. Maybe we do need more cops.
ReplyDeleteThe less cops we have, the more hood rats kill other hood rats. Good.
DeleteThis is because of those fucking Confederate statues. When will you slave merchants realize that the black man is excused from all personal responsibility for all time?? Read your memos you fucks. Let's get a black reverend out there ASAP to do nothing.
ReplyDelete9:00, like they say, takes one to know one so you must be one also.
ReplyDeleteThe KC homicide rates and the mishandling of this issue will go down as Sly James most significant contribution to the City during his 8 years on office.
ReplyDeleteHe has washed his hands of City responsibility by saying he can do nothing about the issue due to the fact that the State of Missouri does not control guns.
James is a failure in leadership and the Council has not stepped up in spite of him.
9:34 - I'm not sure there's much of substance a mayor can do about it. He is just one vote on the council.
DeleteMaybe there are symbolical things a mayor could do, bully pulpit type thing. Police Dept, prosecutor Office, neighbor Hood groups, stakeholders like church and business groups.
-radish
Wrong, as usual, Ra-douche. Guiliani did it as mayor in New York City and it wasn’t only symbolic, was it? If it can be done in NY, it can be done in this shithole.
DeleteBut we have a city manager form of municipal government ...
DeleteAt least the warning signs are going up on the Paseo to beware. Maybe Prospect needs changed to MLK2 Boulevard for added safety.
ReplyDeleteThe 28% who believe they are not being misled on the airport deal probably didn't or don't even notice this kind of stuff.
ReplyDeleteIf only they would've changed the name of Prospect instead of the Paseo to Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, none of this would've ever happened!
ReplyDeleteJean Petersucker Baker is greatly responsible for our high crime rate. She refuses to aggressively prosecute criminals. Part of the problem is her lack of ability, but mostly it’s just a lack of willingness to put criminals in prison where they belong.
ReplyDeleteWe need to empower the Clergy. Maybe an immediate emergency ordinance to shift funds and money to them to educate, discuss, and talk about crime.
ReplyDeleteYou need to keep your eyes open for 14 to 16 year olds at that time of night standing around when your driving around the area. If your lost good luck.
ReplyDeleteAnyone looking to make some fast cash should sell vigil supplies on the east side this year. Candles, balloons and airbrushed t-shirts should all be hot commodities.
ReplyDeleteYou forgot empty Courvasier bottles
DeleteBow tie the clown sLIE could do more because he’s on the police board, but he hates the popo because they were gonna throw his son in jail for constantly pulling his gun on people, sLIE had to move his son out of the state so he wouldn’t go to jail, cost him, I mean the city money to support him in Arizona were he lives now.
ReplyDeleteWith spring around the corner, the koloreds boys will be primed and ready to shoot everything in sight, this will be a record year for sure.
ReplyDeleteToo many of them are content to stay home all day living off grandmas welfare.
Delete^^^..and yet..life goes on.
ReplyDelete^^who? The geriatrics?? They spend all day on here fool.
ReplyDeleteC'mon Dontavius @12:39, you know who is grifting off dem babymamas' & granmamas!
ReplyDelete9:49 There is all kinds of things Sly could do but doesn't. For starters he could be a leader; it should be implied in the job description. Now, I can't stand Rudy Giuliani since 9/11 but before that as mayor of NYC he moved mountains to clean up NYC. Sly has the built-in advantage of being black. He should absolutely be out in front of the crime problem, talking to churches and community leaders. His message to them and what they need to spread in the neighborhoods is the police have to be allowed to do their job without being called racist. Cops need to be able to police aggressively, especially to people who are known problems and repeat offenders. When the police get into a grey area of policing aggressively they need to have the backing of the mayor's office and the community.
