TKC TOLD YOU SO!!! KANSAS CITY REJECTS NEW AIRPORT LIES AS PUBLIC RADIO PUSHES PROPAGANDA!!!

Before we get started with the EPIC TKC FACT CHECK, lets not forget that the ranks of public radio in Kansas City has been INFESTED with Kansas City Star castaways who are now working for pennies on the dollar but still able to practice their craft thanks in part to government funding and viewers like you.

And now, on with the BILLION DOLLAR New KCI Airport show thanks to KICK-ASS KC INSIDERS . . .

"DO WE HAVE AN ATTORNEY HERE?!?!?"

Despite growing questions about short-term borrowing and financing cost, MSM continue to carry the airport’s water.

Construction could begin by April? Did the news hawks have anyone at the meeting today or did they just recycle an airport press release? In reality, serious questions came up at today’s Aviation Committee meeting about who is paying for the new airport and when that might happen. Recall the airlines are supposed to sign a term sheet by Feb. 25. A term sheet is a general agreement about which costs will be picked up by the airlines at the new airport. We were told today the term sheet will be signed on Feb. 27. We were also told the term sheet will be folded later into a comprehensive use and lease agreement with the airlines, to be signed sometime between Mar. 11 and May 30. This sounds like a final deal could be months away, even if everything goes as expected, something that has not happened so far.

Which brings us to a heated exchange today between Councilwoman Teresa Loar and David Long, Assistant Director of Aviation and main finance guy at KCI. Loar asked Long directly if the airlines will be legally committed to paying billions of dollars for airport construction with the signing of the term sheet, yes or no? His answer: “I can’t answer that . . . I think your attorneys should answer that question.”

This was the startling equivalent of Long taking the 5th. Has it really come to this? The airport has been working on this deal for two years. Yet the airport official in charge of the largest and most expensive construction project in city history can’t or won’t say if the airlines will be bound to pay for the new airport when/if they sign the term sheet?! Why is that? Is it because the airlines are not legally committed to pay for the airport until they ink the final use and lease agreement? This point was not clarified at the hearing today. But if the deal is not binding until the airlines sign off on the final use and lease agreement, it sounds like there could be months of possible delay and disagreement ahead, if the deal doesn’t fall apart for some other reason in the meantime. It will be interesting to see how the local media spin this as a sign that construction is right around the corner.

Councilwoman Loar described the whole mess as “bait and switch.” No kidding.

And tonight it gets worse in terms of public trust . . .

KMBC: New poll reveals many Kansas Citians feel city has lied about costs of new airport

Deets:

The survey polled 495 likely voters in the coming city elections. It’s not from any candidate running for mayor. 41% say they feel the city council lied to voters about the cost and timeline of the project.

Another 31% say they're not sure . . .

  1. It's nice to see at least somebody is asking some important questions.

    1. It's even better that the airport will be done sometime around 2050 and we'll have so much to talk about the 5 billion dollar project.

    2. I'm not trolling, I honestly just want to know and nobody in the committee today asked the question. Loar got close but not exactly. What's the rush? Why not sign the term sheet and the user agreement at the same time? I don't know what Kansas City is in such a rush to make the time table for Edgemoor.

They work for us, not the other way around.

Really don't like this emergency attitude we're getting from aviation, Jolie and the Mayor's office. The easiest way to trick people is to rush their decision. Thank you Councilmember Loar for taking time to try and figure out this deal.

  5. Time to vote again. The terms of the deal were misrepresented.

  6. ^^^ +1

The only thing we've agreed to is tearing down the terminals and even that was supposed to be with only airport money. It's all a scam.

  7. What we're seeing from Kansas City is obviously a bait-and-switch that's the best way to describe it. We were promised a better facility a more accessible facility a facility that would lessen the lines what have we got? All there is now to show for it is just a bunch of financing schemes and hundreds of people lining up with their hands out no real plan, no agreement that was promised, no jobs for most of Kansas City. Just a lot of promises right before the election. Bait and switch to be sure.

  8. All about the election for Jolie, Quinton and Reed. James believes it will be his legacy. He does not care that the city will pay $25 million more per year than required for choosing Edgemoor. That is for 30 years. Dan Fowler is working for Jolie.

  9. Obviously the plan is to start demolishing the airport asap before any elections so then it would be too late for renovations. Suckers.

  10. Great. We got a survey that confirms the obvious. And nothing will be changed.

  11. 28 percent said they believe that they were not misled.

  14. Slie is a failed, rejected, and incompetent mayor. He was rejected by Amazon by not locating their second headquarters here and supposedly for not accepting the returns for all the junk he bought on Amazon. The Federal Government rejected him and his bid for additional funding for the fair weather toy train. The smart voters have rejected him over the airport proposal.
The council needs to put a screeching halt to this scam and get all of their questions answered before completely stopping the project and start from scratch. Kudos to councilwoman Loar for questioning David Long the way she did.
Davin Long's response indicates there are many things the council does not know about this project. Many agreements and statements are probably being with held from the council.
