ANY KANSAS CITY MAYORAL CANDIDATE WITHOUT A GROUND GAME SHOULD BE QUICKLY DISCOUNTED!!!
A quick roundup of available info . . .
Council dude Quinton Lucas has a solid infrastructure on the East side with his eyes on winning progressive support in the corridor that should push him into the primary.
However, that very same corridor belongs to Jolie Justus. LGBT and labor activists own this part of town and they'll be rallying familiar faces to push her into the final contest.
The Southland is tougher to manage but Council dude Scott Taylor got off to an early start and might make bigger advances in the Southeast where seniors & and longtime residents trust a familiar face rather than campaign promises.
It's unknown if Steve Miller's money can buy him an effective team. So far it seems that he wants to play an "air game" with media buzz working to boost his name recognition. However, nobody told him that this strategy rarely works and might cost about 5 times the budget he currently holds.
Finally, Clay Chastain is a one man ground game and his record of prolific petitions have proven his enthusiasm to talk to residents face to face. As usual, he's the wild card.
And so . . . The contest is on as desperate candidates work to put more than a year of fundraising into practice and finally take their message to Kansas City streets.
