TKC MUST SEE!!! CLAY CHASTAIN SHARES HIS 10 POINT PLAN TO SAVE KCI!!!
The latest plan from KC's most prolific petitioner and transit activist . . .
Amid on-going, inept and corrupt airport dealings, Candidate Clay has new developer to save and renovate KCI
Like city hall did with the streetcar and the taxpayer-subsidized downtown convention hotel, they are doing with the new single-terminal airport fiasco - sneaking around, doing dirty deals under the table and robbing taxpayers for another misbegotten project that is not for the common good of all.
A vote for honest engineer Clay is a vote not only to save, renovate and make even more safe, functional and convenient our existing airport, but also a vote to save the "City Beautiful" and stop these clandestine ill-conceived projects that increase the city's debt, rob taxpayers and are not for the benefit of the residents of Kansas City.
Conservative honest and maverick engineer Clay has aligned himself with a local professional engineer that has a marvelous, innovative and sensible plan to renovate good ole Kansas City International Airport. Here are the Top Ten advantages as to why terminal renovation is far better then terminal replacement at KCI:
#1. Renovating good ole KCI will cost substantially less (at least half the cost) than constructing a new airport.
#2. Good ole KCI has a hub-like multi-security check point design that makes it inherently safer than the new airport's single-security check point design.
#3. Unlike the new single-terminal airport (which will require older citizens, children and people with disabilities to have to walk over 1,000 feet to get to the far concourse (even farther from the new parking garage), good ole KCI retains the luxury of having aircraft taxi to us - not, have people walk long distances to the aircraft.
#4. The new airport will result in not only more aircraft entanglements (because the aircraft will have to operate within the tight quarters of the "H" design, but also the taxi times will be greater because the aircraft will have to taxi around the remote concourse to reach gates or active runways.
#5. Since good ole KCI is making the city a profit of $45 million per year, renovation will allow KCAD to keep effective financial control securely within its hands while maintaining competition between airlines.
#6. Terminal replacement will not only result in spending hundreds of millions of additional dollars tearing down good ole KCI, but also create a traffic nightmare compromising the airport's convenience for years.
#7. Renovation of good ole KCI will create new space including...illuminated, graceful roof lines, all up-graded amenities located in safe secured space and additional cost-effective parking space added atop existing parking garages at terminals A and B.
#8. Unlike good ole KCI's circular design, the new airport's H design will line up people and planes, like ducks in a row near the active runway, exposing KCI to catastrophe.
#9. Renovating good ole KCI retains 4,000 feet of curb space versus only 1,200 feet with the new airport design.
#10. Renovating good ole KCI and including in the design a state-of-the art transit station to serve a modern rapid transit system (connecting Kansas City International Airport to the northland, downtown, a Regional Multi-Modal Transportation Center at Union Station, the Plaza and the central city) will provide the residents of Kansas City the safest, most convenient and most accessible airport in the country!!!
