TKC MUST SEE!!! BIZ LEADERS DEMAND KANSAS CITY TAXPAYERS FRONT EMERGENCY $90-MILLION LOAN TO AIRLINES FOR NEW KCI AIRPORT!!!

We lead with a fair use snip of a newsworthy and iconic image featuring both Conservatives & Liberal leaders laughing at the political discourse which mostly serves as a distraction whilst smarter people steal money.

Now our quickie op/ed . . .

LAST NIGHT KANSAS CITY BIG BIZ SENT A RANSOM NOTE TO COUNCIL THAT WOULD GET ANYBODY ELSE THROWN IN JAIL!!!

Political perspective . . .

- More misdirection, today's major debate isn't about the airport, it's about a sketchy $90-MILLION SHORT TERM LOAN to keep the New KCI money machine rolling.

- Time and time again, local critics have noted that most of the denizens of these groups live in Johnson County and won't be on the hook for the cost if all goes wrong.

- This is an outright political threat before election season for their biz interests and a demand for corporate welfare. If small biz behaved this way they would confront push back from customers and regulators.

Here's the note that has been mostly hidden but offers a great look at who really runs this dirty little town . . .

KC Biz Journal: Civic groups call on City Council to pass KCI ordinance

Deets:

The Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, the Kansas City Area Development Council and the Kansas City Civic Council released a joint letter Wednesday evening calling on members of the City Council to pass the resolution they're considering Thursday on the $1.5 billion Kansas City International Airport single-terminal project.

Passage of the ordinance, a set of crucial documents and contracts among parties on the project, is necessary for the approval of the project and for work to begin.

"On behalf of the thousands of businesses represented by our organizations, we write today to encourage you to vote Yes to approve agreements with both KCI developer Edgemoor Infrastructure & Real Estate and the airlines for a new, long-awaited single terminal at KCI," the letter reads, in part. "The KCI New Terminal Project is supported by the MWBE, labor and business communities, by the airlines — who have agreed to cover the entire cost — and by the overwhelming support of the citizens of Kansas City."

The letter was signed by leadership of all three organizations and was sent to each member of the City Council.

You decide . . .

Business as usual at City Hall. Don't vote for any council member running for mayor.

I think everyone should be allowed to advocate. That being said, this airport deal is out of control. The short term loan shows a clear lack of planning. It is necessary to pause here and ask ourselves if KC really wants to make a commitment to a deal that we are ultimately responsible for over the next 30 years.

What I don't like is that the airlines and Edgemeoor are making demands of KC but IT'S OUR MONEY. They're acting like we owe it to them. KC is running the show here but we're taking demands for businesses who act more like they're taking a handout and not competing for a very big contract.

Fix is in, now we just watch how they voted.

If you’re a KC taxpayer, you may want to start looking for a second job.

Typical city hall KC ratfuck. And I thought the initial no bid Burns & Mac deal was bad. I would love to have that one over again.

Any councilperson who votes for this cannot be our mayor. It would show they don't have good sense. Clay will show us the way..

Anonymous said...

^^^^ Clay lives in Virginia and he hasn't voted in an election in years.

Anonymous said...

^^^ Actually not in 20 years.

^^^ and neither does Lucas so shut up already

Same kind of ludicrous hype and stunted thinking that made West Edge on the Plaza one of KCMO's most famous world class landmarks and profitable ventures.

Our Council needs to be aware the SWA Mechanics have been on strike for 5 years or more. Sooner or later this will come to a head. If they strike, SWA will basically shut down and won't have the money necessary to cover the costs associated with this new airport. Who will pay then??

Well clay at least has a planin which none of the other brandless city council memders. Why do ready need a new airport or it just another little shiny objects for the brainless the little Uncle Tom mayor who doesn't really care about the citizens of Kansas City just about a power. It time we elect a candidate who's outside of the ass kissing worthless pieces of s*** elite candidates.Who have or ever talk about issues just sound bites. Because I think the taxpayers are stupid.Taxplayer would vote for petty pictures they we not substance it's time to vote for a real candidate who is talking about the issues.

28% of those polled think this is a fabulous deal and they aren't getting misled. Whats not to like?

The groups signing this letter have their hands in the pockets of Edgemoor. They will all profit greatly from a new airport and it's their fault that the costs of the airport have nearly doubled.

Once again I hear back from people who actually know what's going on and they tell me that this blog is completely mischaracterizing the words of our Kansas City Business Leaders. One of the comments actually didn't mention that they have a right to Advocate, this is correct. All I see except for that comment is nothing but a string of hatred and an anger that really doesn't represent all the good things happening with the city right now.

If you look at what's happening at the airport you'll see our business Community, cultural leaders, and elected leaders all working together to create jobs and bring a momentous project to fruition. That's something amazing that we are doing and something that people on this blog just really can't understand.

Once again it's important to bring a better perspective and more understanding in order to tell people that the comments here don't represent the way people really feel about the airport.

Voters want the new airport, businesses want the new airport, and people looking for jobs need the new airport. To stand in the way of something this big is just futile. We need to think about what's best for Kansas City and how these companies these business groups like The Chamber and many others are getting together and making our city best.

This is some of the greatest momentum that we've seen KC history. I hope more people will take part in it rather than just sit on the sidelines and complain.

Gopher boi, just stop, you’re an embarrassment to the city, after al, what have you done? It looks like instead of working for your tax payer paycheck you spend most of your time on city equipment and city time lying on a blog. Dude, just stop.

11:15 I remember when the p&l was built and they talked about momentum, and that momentum only cost us 15 million a year! It’s not momentum if you have to keep paying for it, Jazz anybody! Hahahahaha!

Anonymous said...

People will pour into kc,probably 25 million or more..to visit the world famous jazz district, with nightly live action shootouts, the plaza with more live action shootouts, free streetcars, and world class potholes. If your lucky you will see a live action shootout and car chase, and even a crash. Take a tour of the trash dump sites all over the city..and go downtown where you might catch a glimpse of someone breaking into your car.. as a highlight tour the numerous homeless camps...thanks to Sly.

Wow! Gopher says there's momentum resulting from this momentous project.

Maybe gopher could apply some of that momentum to the momentous task of snow removal and pothole repairs.

Anonymous said...

Back to work, bootlicker! Sly's knob isn't gonna polish itself!

Anonymous said...

Go4KC does not have a clue as to what real momentum is. His post, word smithing, spinning narrative, and regurgitated bile of the head city minions is disgusting and clueless as to what the real taxpayers think.

The circle jerk of insiders is less than compelling. Have Lees Summit, Parkville, Olathe run the project selection team. KCMO can't do much with integrity.

if you turned one of the exiting terminals into the entire airport, KC would have a single terminal airport.
The proposed new airport has two terminals and a single TSA checkpoint.

Anonymous said...

no idea what they voting about. single terminal, single tsa checkpoint, new airport, kci modernization, two terminals, whatever fits.

^^GoForKC Again, the sales pitch is new-for-the-sake-of-new and the cost will be paid by the airlines. The reality is travelers will pay higher fares (passed on by the airlines), longer TSA lines (yeah, DCA/DEN single TSA wait lines are fun), more high priced restaurants (that no one really wants to use because they don't want to spend time at the airport), temporary jobs via an out-of-state contractor, and no promise of more direct flights to/from Kansas City. Do you want to address any of these points?

Do you remember when United dominated DEN? Flights to/from that airport were outrageous. Denver residents complained and complained. Who changed the landscape at DEN? Frontier. Yep, the small upstart airline that saw an opportunity. Those same small carriers that you've dismissed as not being a part of KC's future.

Why doesn't the city propose something innovative? How about an airport that distinguishes itself from every other shinny metal box airport with overpriced TGI Fridays and Brooks Brothers? Build an airport with the shortest TSA lines, shortest parking-to-gate distance, and cheapest tickets possible. Travelers want to get to the airport 30 min before their flight and get a direct flight to/from their destination. Imagine a pitch to a large Fortune 500 business looking to relocate!

I think the foregone conclusion is we will end up with a bright shinny airport with higher fares, longer TSA lines, and fewer flight options (little guys leave and we are stuck with whatever SW, Delta, etc. will offer us). Tell us that we're wrong GoForKC and maybe some of the negativity will go away...

lawyers and contractors acting like being super specific does not matter.
The modernization of KCI does not require new terminals, new gates, or new waiting areas.

Anonymous said...

Forget the convenient MCI we already have and think about how much better your life will be with a "new" airport. Doesn't every traveler dream of spending as much time as possible waiting in long TSA lines, long afternoons dining at overpriced chain restaurants, more expensive plane tickets, and looking forward to multiple connecting flights on their way to Cleveland? Yes, it's all worth it as long as the airport is "new".

Anonymous said...

^^^^ Go4KC is either being paid or drank the koolaid because I think the pitch he's passing along is the world will finally look at KC differently with that new terminal. I think a billion $ on a rail project connecting the airport to downtown would go 10x further in advancing the cause (and I'm not that crazy about light rail) of a progressive city that is convenient for out-of-town travelers. The growth along the rail line would fill the void that current plagues out-of-town visitors view of KC - airport out in the middle of nowhere and a pain to get to/from. Even renting a car takes a long bus ride to a bright/shinny rental center that seems out-of-place and overbuilt for the city.

Why does sLIE this new airport is high on everybody’s list of places to visit, nobody wants to be at the airport any longer than they have to be. It’s a joke to think people will come here because we have a new glass, plastic and steel building. They still won’t come here because of the crime and worthless schools, there really is no reason to come here because there is nothing here to see. Just sayin

They don’t come here for jazz that’s for sure! Hahahahaha!

2:34 the airport was put way out there because of the noise, there wasn’t anything around it when it was built but farmland. There wasn’t much traffic up that way either so it was easy to get in and out of.

The real truth why the elite want new airport is because it's basically a scam to line the pockets of a select few individuals or groups.Who will get kickbacks from the bond money. Most the council achoo stupid to know what their voting on just to corrupt. Good new I think this well blow in the faces of the council members who are running for mayor.
