TKC MONDAY QUESTION: IS IT UNFAIR TO SAY THAT JAZZ DISTRICT IS DANGEROUS AFTER LATEST WEEKEND KANSAS CITY DOUBLE SHOOTING MURDER?!?!
Last August there was a mass shooting in the Jazz District that injured six people. Over the weekend dozens of rounds of gunfire echoed through the district and left one man dead in his car.
And so we ask . . .
IS IT FAIR TO SAY THAT THE JAZZ DISTRICT IS DANGEROUS GIVEN THE CONSISTENT EPISODES OF GUNFIRE AND MURDER NEAR THE AREA?!?!?
Here's what district insiders have to say . . .
Jazz District community reacts after overnight deadly shooting
In the aftermath Councilman Quinton Lucas noted boarded up buildings near the shooting site but didn't mention much about the recent $10-MILLION worth of Christmas cash going to the district that hasn't been spent on security so far . . . Never mind the $100-MILLION invested in this area over the the past generation that still hasn't managed to come up with a viable profit model.
Money line . . .
Bob Kendrick of the Negro League Baseball Museum tells FOX4 it's very disappointing and disheartening for the city and district.
"These things happen and are not isolated to one part of the city, and the Jazz District is not immune to these kinds of incidents. There is this perception that this area is dangerous. It's not reality, but it is that perception.”
Kendrick said we see this in all parts of our city.

You decide . . .
Of course it's dangerous.
ReplyDeletebut so is the plaza and there isn't half as much violence there.
Hanging out anywhere in KC can get very dicey at 2 in the morning.
Geezer you never leave your house so you will be safe. Just have plenty of diapers and tapioca.
DeleteAnywhere in the ghetto is dangerous especially at 2am. Any money spent on 18th & Vine or anywhere in the ghetto is a wate of money.
ReplyDeleteOh my god! It’s 2am and I’m scared! I haven’t been out this late in 50 years and I’m shitting myself !
DeleteDon't worry the Kansas Shitty Police department is on it.
ReplyDeleteThe dragging of branches through the urban jungle.
ReplyDeleteNo more money for any development until we get more cops on the street.
ReplyDeleteThe jazz district is very safe. The safest place in the city to get killed.
ReplyDeleteWhat the fuck do boarded up windows have to do with a bunch of people getting murdered? That is the ultimate straw man. this city is fucked with this type of leadership
ReplyDeleteThis is obviously a knee jerk reaction to an isolated incident. Obviously, the city should drop another $Hundred Million or so into the effort before we all jump to conclusions.
ReplyDeleteLucas and Reed will pump as much money into this district as they can regardless of the need. This is their political game and they believe this spending will gain them votes.
ReplyDeleteThe Council is responsible for much of much division in this city. Spending huge sums of money without majority support is tragic for the City.
18th and Vine
Jazz Museum
Jazz Museum Board of directors
Linwood Grocery
Street Car
MLK Blvd
8:28 and 8:30 copro boi times 2. Reinforces is own dull drivel.
ReplyDeleteJazz district by any other name is a slum.
ReplyDeleteFor a $100 million in welfare from Lardass and Co, you’d think security would have been better.
ReplyDeleteThere have been more murders and violent assaults at 18 th and vine than other areas. Let’s see, Plaza 0, zone Rosa 0, worlds of Fun 0, Kauffman Stadium 0, Sporting KC 0 and on and on.
ReplyDeleteWhat part of Kansas City is "SAFE" basicly north of 75th and west of State Line.
ReplyDelete8:28 and 8:30 must not hang there it appears he is still alive and if he ventured into those areas acting like he does here you would think he'd be a prime target.
Let's be honest with ourselves and admit that their is only one demographic committing these sorts of crimes. Just look at the recent FBI stats for homicides in both K.C. and St. Louis. If stating facts makes me a fucking racist, then so be it. The liberal media castigates law enforcement and police officers whenever a black person is shot by police. No wonder police officers are jumpy and trigger happy whenever they are around these 'people'. These sort of shootings and this sort of violence was unheard of during segregation. Black misbehavior and gang violence is not just happening in the U.S., it is happening all round the world. Just look at the U.K. Getting pretty fucking sick of it and the liberal media.
ReplyDelete8x as many people die on Missouri highways each year vs Kansas City crime, and no one here gives a shit.
ReplyDeleteIn fact most people here sing the praises of MODOT and their Mizzou grads who work for them, instead of taking appropriate legal action against them: Joe Turner being one example.
Nobody cares about Joe Turner.
Delete^^and really, nobody cares about the murders either. Let's be honest.
ReplyDelete@corpro boi, being intelligent about your surroundings and adjusting your behavior accordingly, isn't being stupid, or a pussy, its recognition of facts and adaptability. That's like standing at the edge of the salt flats without water and deciding to walk across 'cause "yer not scurred;" whereas the rest of us would either 1) not do it, or 2) be appropriately prepared. I suspect that regardless of your bravado you would no sooner go for a 2AM stroll through the ghetto than you would start paying your own rent.
ReplyDelete12:04 you are absolutely correct but the apologists are more offended by words than murders. You will be called racist by someone here soon enough. I saw Bob Kendrick and his bullshit on the news last night. Yes, anything can happen anywhere but it is undeniable violent crime happens more often where black people are. Look at 80th & Farley in OP. Several shootings there the last couple of weeks. What is there? Apartments. Who lives in them? Black people. Look how bad Blue Ridge has got the last few years. Who has infiltrated the area more and more? It ain't white people. Name me one place on Earth that is black and peaceful. He'll, there is at least one genocide in Africa occurring at all times. Two years ago the black police chief of St Louis stated in a speech that of the 205 murders in St Louis in 2017, 204 involved at least one black person. They ruin everything they touch.

ReplyDeleteThe entire city is dangerous. You can't even get a hamburger on the Plaza or drive down Ward Pkwy without something happening, Sunfresh, Ward Pkwy ctr, Plaza, 18th and Vine, the city has become very depressing.
regardless, you all will have to do better than suggesting sending more black people to jail to feed the prison complex which will just make people more poor and pissed off, and hold politicos responsible instead of the police.
ReplyDeletepretty fed up being an 'ally' or being in 'solidarity' with anyone these days, black white or fuchsia.
ReplyDelete7:31, people who are in jail at least are not shooting four year olds. Building as many jails as we need to hold all the violent criminals sounds pretty good to me.
ReplyDeleteI think we already do. The us prison population is over 2.6 million. You know, because we are the greatest country on Earth with the most freedom or something.
Delete-radish
and all 2.6 million are violent criminals in jails and prisons. If they are not they will be.
ReplyDeletemaybe you should talk about how these violent criminal can make reparations to society beyond sitting on their ass and beating the shit out of each other, or working pennies on the dollar for corporations.
ReplyDeleteor how do prisons feed THEMSELVES. If they want to stab each other as all the shows portray, they can do it in the tomato garden.
