TKC FACT CHECK!!! BLAME MAYOR SLY FOR KANSAS CITY STREETS STILL ICY AND DANGEROUS AFTER THUNDERSLEET!!!

Once again neighborhood streets across Kansas City resemble a treacherous ice covered tundra and not the vibrant metropolis touted by Mayor Sly James and his supporters.

To wit . . .

GARBAGE KANSAS CITY ICY STREETS EXEMPLIFY MISPLACED CIVIC PRIORITIES!!!

Of course we've taken on this topic at the outset of the storm and then time and time again throughout the tenure of the current City Hall honcho.

Now it's news fact.

Take a look:

Fox4: After initial pass, many Kansas City streets still icy and snow covered

The civic FAIL offers an important lesson for youngsters who remain out of school for a second day in a row:

KCTV5: Ice closes schools, business across Kansas City

Even worse, the horrific conditions of Kansas City roads hurt local biz . . .

KSHB: Icy conditions, brutal cold leads to slow days for some businesses

And so . . .

As the election approaches City Hall remains focused on high flying campaign issues like the airport and affordable housing. Meanwhile, voters should take notice that the streets are consistently dangerous thanks to a lack of focus on snow & ice removal, rising violent crime and deferred maintenance.

You decide . . .

  1. neighborhoods in kc have always been neglected. Sly is just keeping up a proud tradition that kay barnes started. holding office in KC isn't about mundane details like monitoring finances or getting streets cleaned. It's about making big deal happens and pretending to "create jobs" while your just giving away tax breaks.

    1. Hey now, if you live in a high rise on the streetcar line. It's all good!

    2. Don't blame Sly, blame the Chamber - Most of them actually live in Leawood where the streets are pristine and the utilities are brand news. They don't care if they have to slum a few days of the week to prop up politicians working on their behalf.

  2. The plus side is that the cold kept all the killers and bums inside. Count your blessings KC.

  3. Blame the chamber??? Why not just blame people with cars? UMMMM NO they don't have crap to do with it. Blame Sly James. He has run this city into the ground and divided the people!

    Blame the Chamber? LMAO

  4. Oh no! It's so icy out there!! So, so icy. Stay inside! Stay scared. The streets, my God, you can't even move, So many dead and wounded out there. Sure, people have gone back and forth to work without incident, but not many. It's so bad! My God why! Why?

  5. Truly a failed Mayor. A few years ago I thought James was just a pro business Mayor who had to keep an unqualified Council under control. In reality, he will be remembered as a Tax first and set City spending priorities to his followers desires.

    Linwood Grocery
    Undemocratic Streetcar extension

  6. I don't care who you elect or which party they identify with.....KCMO will always have these problems. Move to Florida or Arizona if it bothers you that much.

    ReplyDelete
  7. But I want to complain!!! Sure, I haven't left my house all week, but the roads! My God, the roads are so bad!!! Whaaaaaaaaaa. It snows and ices here! Whaaaaaaa!!!!!!! The roads and the ice!!! Whaaaaaaaaa!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  8. Nothing a proposed half billion dollars in bicycle lanes can't fix.

    ReplyDelete
  9. KCMO is a texbook example of how not to do things.

What did Kay do for the city?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Have any of you complaining bastards been out to JOCO? Streets are pure shit. Metcalf, College, Quivera haven't seen a plow. So quit your bitching.

    ReplyDelete
  11. But the roads!!!!!!!!! The roads!!!!!!! Whaaaaaaaa!!!!!!! Change my diaper!!!!!!!! Whaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!

  12. This kind of blaming is ridiculous, counter productive and just plain wrong. Once again, I've tried to stay away from this blog but the amount negativity and misinformation keeps getting repeated around City Hall and other places and it needs to be challenged directly.

    Shame on you TKC.

You really should know now better. At the current temperatures and those overnight, there is no amount of shoveling and street treatment that would have helped the situation.

What are you doing, arguing for more government waste? Or are you just stirring up anger against a city that is making tremendous strides? This week we got an airport deal, the streetcar is moving forward and our hotel is making great progress. There might be ice on the street but there are also cranes in the sky building up our great downtown. It's a shame that TKC and the readers can't see that or refuse to see it.

KC is a world class city and the complaints about the cold are unfair when directed at the mayor and city manager who have used General Obligation Funds wisely to make a lot of progress.

How dare you criticize others when you don't have any solutions.

KC has come a long way in the past 8 years and we've done it in spite of the constant criticism from people who can't think past their own block.

KC has momentum and just posting attacks on our Mayor and those who support him can't change that and won't stop us from moving forward.

    1. Since when does ambulance chasing, hilarious clown Sly James know the word 'shame'? Was it taught to him by his developer masters?

Anyway, you're too late. Mayor Bullhorn solidly nailed down his legacy of failure and corruption long before you showed up.

  13. ^^^^ So I guess the 29th floor made it to work okay. Good luck to everybody else.

  14. ^^I made it back and forth all week. Then again, I'm not a geezer who should ever be on the road either. The roads weren't bad at all, then again I can drive, most of you bastards cannot. I made it all over town this week, then again, I'm not driving a rear-wheel drive car in city with a winter climate either. I never have any problems but then, I understand that driving too slow for conditions is just as bad as driving too fast. You bastards don't know that.

You contribute nothing, you're just disagreeing to disagree without making any point of your own. Really disgusting that you're trying to set up on shop on this blog to attempt to quiet any real discussion. I bet if you had your own blog absolutely no one would read it. That's why you're trolling here.

  24. James deserves blame for a lot of things. Not removing the ice from every street, avenue, alley and cul de sac isn't one of them. I suspect the people who complain the most about slick streets haven't cleared the ice from their own porches, sidewalks and driveways.

  31. ^^^^^^^^^Good point but you know it's never about what they do it's all about what you didn't do. I saw a lady chew a mans ass out one morning in Fairway because a freak blast of freezing rain hit and turn everything to a sheet of ice and poor guy was trying to treat the walks as she was screaming at him for not already having it done. I asked her if her walks at home were treated yet and she turned and glared at me as she said, "My walks are my business so mind your own business and stay out of mine." I later found out she was a doctor at KU Med.

  34. This city is full of the biggest bunch of babies. It's winter time so deal with it. I would hate to see what you all would do if we had to really deal with a harsh winter. Clean off you own shit before you bitch at someone else for not doing theirs. Besides where is the law that says we are entitled to perfectly cleared and dry streets anyway? When the roads get bad I only drive where it is really necessary for me to go, like work and the grocery store. But I plan plenty of time to do so while using a lot of common sense. Just because the speed limit is 45 mph does not mean that applies when the road is covered with ice. Besides blaming James is stupid that fool has not a single clue how to clean off anything other than a dinner plate.

  51. To Whom Ever At 1:54
Jealousy... is a mental cancer and it is eating you up. Your fascination with Dave is a very problematic in that he no doubt consumes your mental thought process every waking hour of the day as you have proved many times. Maybe you even dream of him as well which is even scarier yet. Your behavior hinges at being a stalker, as one who harasses with unwanted and obsessive attention. Your displays of repeated surveillance with harassing statements and verbal intimidations very clearly are not the results of someone in control of their behavioral actions. Seeking some help on dealing with this matter should probably be obtained forthwith along with some legal counsel of how your actions could be very problematic for you. I would think to a lot of you just seeing what has happened to Steve Rose would be cause enough to make you think twice about what you put in writing for everyone to see. Anonymous isn’t the anonymous I’m sure you all think it is. My advice is, don’t do or say anything online that you wouldn’t do in person amongst the general public.

(To the person, who says Petersucker all the time, you might want to think about saying that. She is a woman who has a huge, very large legal department that could and would find you rather quickly if she simply said the words, “I want this person.” The results of her saying those words I’m sure would not be something you’d want to deal with. Lawyer fees and what not along with some publicity and so forth, well you get how this could all end along with costing you.)

  53. Downtown KCMO is spotless curb to curb because it's the economic hub and that's where the resources are going to go. Economic hubs and major thoroughfares. Unfortunately, it left the side streets until it was too late and there really isn't much you can do for them now. That's all, plain and simple. It's a big damn city and there is only so much salt. There's not a whole lot plows can do on this stuff.
