TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY ANTI-CRIME GROUP CHARGES WESTPORT NEARLY $1K PER NIGHT TO MONITOR RACIAL PROFILING!!!

Last year newly established security checkpoints in Westport hoped to protect patrons and curb violence in the midtown entertainment district. Critics of the so-called "street vacation" during peek late night party hours decried the temporary privatization and feared the impact on the flow of pedestrian traffic.

However, there's a greater and very real cost of the Westport security checkpoints that has been unreported so far . . .

WESTPORT IS FORCED TO PAY NEARLY $1,000 A NIGHT TO A KANSAS CITY ANTI-CRIME GROUP IN ORDER TO MONITOR AGAINST RACIAL PROFILING!!!

As another season of outdoor parties awaits, Westport leaders are getting nervous about the cost that confronts them for months of monitoring that they feel is unnecessary . . . Here's the word:

"This should be illegal. The City NEVER should have forced us to make a deal with them. We paid them at the end of last year and they didn't see any instance of racial profiling or discrimination. The metal detectors don't do that, the policies we have in place make it impossible for us to profile!!!"

Moreover, the Westport insider said:

"This is compromising our security by forcing payouts that Westport needs for our perimeter."

The reality is that a monitoring group was, in fact, part of the street privatization agreement but let's examine the setup just a bit more:

- According to the Westport insider the anti-crime group requires two monitors and one supervisor to make an official report to the Human Relations Division of the City Manager's office regarding any alleged racial profiling -- So far there haven't been any instances reported .

- The monitors work along side of one KCPD officer stationed at each checkpoint.

- Westport insiders claim the racial profiling monitors get paid more than security staffers.

- This year Westport insiders estimate they'll pay this Kansas City Anti-Crime Group anywhere from $120,000 to $150,000.

And so . . .

As the outdoor party season approaches, expect Westport leaders to grow bolder in their criticism of this Kansas City racial profiling mandate as both resentment and cost of the requirement continue to amass.

  1. I understand the point about the costs but I think we also have to consider the fact that Westport just doesn't have that kind of money anymore. That fee could be the difference between making a profit and going under for a lot of those bars. They shouldn't have agreed to start out.

    1. Pretty sweet work if you can get it, watch Westport fill up, do nothing and collect fee. That is great work.

    2. Westport needs to raise a fuss about this, the requirement is actually unconstitutional and unfair taxation. There is no reason to pay this kind of exorbitant fee just to do business. What do we call it, a racism tax. If we're not careful that kind of money can be required of every business in KC.

    3. If the Mafia did that its called a RICO charge.

P&L district almost has to pay this kind of garbage too. They didn't and got into a lot of trouble. Wesport is probably saving money in the end by greasing the wheels.

    1. ^^^^ BULL SHIT.

If Westport doesn't like it they can do one thing to make it easier: Drop the checkpoints! That would solve the whole problem. If they want to own the street, they're going to have to pay for it.

  4. The whole point was to get rid of guns. Who put the gun to whose head? Sounds like extortion to me. Alvin Brooks must not be in charge anymore. He use to help Westport.

  5. Didn't Brooks and a guy named Washington start Adhoc? They were honest guys. The new people got greedy. Go figure! And Westport's dumb enough to pay it. Wow

  6. Did the city really make Westport work with them? That's illegal too. I'd call civil liberties. I'd pull in the city with this. Do they monitor city hall because Westport's set up is exactly the same!

  7. Westport really doesn't have this money. Ask McCoys. KCMO thinks they are entitled to as much money as they want from all the businesses and residents. No one seems to be pushing back either

  8. Maybe one of the 10 mayoral candidates will help Westport get out of it....Nah, they'd all be too afraid of losing votes and being labelled "Racist".

  9. That loudmouth Nigro guy probably started this mess. He probably negotiated the dumb deal for Westport. He's that stupid.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Will they make the same requirement of the Jazz District? Seems only fair...

  11. The streets should never have been "privatized."

  12. I don't get it. What are they looking for if everyone goes thru a metal detector?

  13. This is for sLIE’s private liquor money

Well they didn't choose KCMO. I guess Wasted Port drove away the Googlers.

  15. ^^^ Why in the hell would they choose a crime infested chaotic mess like Sly's Killa City?

You'd have to be out of your freaking mind.

    LOL Sly James!

  18. Westport has always had con men running around. Now they work for the city.

  19. A damn shame that KC businesses have to pay out shake don artists in order to do business. That's why more people are moving to Kansas.

  20. Korruption. City.

  21. If it's costing westport this much money than maybe they should stop doing it. Agree with one of the comments here, the best way to avoid these grifters is to call off the weekend street closures. That might be best for Wesport and the surrounding neighborhoods.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Does the 18th & vine district have to pay this same fee?

    ReplyDelete
  23. This is pathetic. FORCED to pay this? This is just more progressive bullshit. Shake down people for their money under "justice" or "green initiatives" "race" etc. What a bunch of bullies.

    ReplyDelete
  24. The anti-crime observer fee is nothing more than extortion. This o-called "community leaders" bleeding either taxpayers or businesses, who then pass the added costs on to their customers.

This is simply thinly veiled extortion. A protection racket in plain sight.
