Here's a look at the continued spate of violence escalating in Johnson County as residents hope to thwart evolving demographics, radical change in housing stock, rising income disparity along with an increasingly burdened justice system -- Issues that plague communities throughout the metro and the nation but have yet to garner any easy fix.
Take a look:
KMBC: Overland Park police address crime with community after recent violent crimes
KCTV5: After the latest murder another teenager was shot and a third person was stabbed near the same Overland Park neighborhood.
Fox4: Grandmother of Overland Park teen shot and paralyzed shares frustrations at community meeting
Channel 9: Man charged with killing 17-year-old in Overland Park
Developing . . .
The answer is easy. Move to Leawood if you have the money. If not, buy a better door lock, think about Tonganoxie and stop crying if it's not your kid that got killed.
ReplyDeleteDiversity.
ReplyDeleteLet's all pretend it's so wonderful and be sure to remember and vote Democrat.
You wanted all of the wonderful apartments so now you get all of the wonderful ghetto crime !
ReplyDeleteMake the golden ghetto great again!
ReplyDeleteThe differences between OP and KCMO are:
ReplyDeleteOverland Park has a actual city government where elected officials make services like public safety a high priority.
Residents in OP will work closely with the police and each other in the neighborhoods and share information.
Johnson County prosecutors will bring serious charges which will result in serious consequences.
The make-believe "gangstas" will need to find other places to act out.
Hint: It's to the east.
Section 8 people. It fucks up any neighborhood. This is exactly why in the next 10 years, Lawrence and southern Leavenworth county with be the most sought after areas. The people in kansas will also redraw the political map by doing such.
ReplyDeleteJOCO is tougher on crime. A good example is Kyle James. Saying "do you know who I am, who my daddy is" doesn't cut it there.
ReplyDeleteAnd now fools in Shawnee want to build a "communitee centre"--really a rec center featuring contact sports. In the closest place for teens to hang out when Legends Outlet Mall and Cinemark and Oak Park boot them out. In the most upscale part of western Shawnee. And don't have a clue that might be a problem.
ReplyDeleteShawnee rec center? Name it Kum Bay Yah Center. Say goodbye to your resale values in western Shawnee....
ReplyDeleteApartments don't commit crime. Tenants do.
ReplyDeleteThere is no more Section 8, technically. In their wisdom, the AOC socialism-for-all feds just write a rent voucher to low income people, and they can then rent an apartment or a small house anywhere a landlord who just wants a tenant will accept it.
This disperses poverty across the land, as opposed to concentrated ghettos and tenements like the old Pruitt Igoe in St. Louis or the projects east of downtown KCMO.
Overland Park would like to thank sLIE, Frankie boi, forte and petersucker for being worthless..... protect and serve, they have no idea what that means
ReplyDeleteThey know what the problem is.... They just don't dare say it.
ReplyDeleteDiaper dandies in rare form!! Go you geezers go!!!
ReplyDeletePatti Wehner needs to wake up and admit her grandson was a fuck up who wasn't turning a damn thing around.
ReplyDelete8:15, how about you shut the fuck up. I'm not in the mood for your childish bullshit today bitch.
Move to Paola, you pussies. Hahaha. A gaggle of neutered hens, nothing more.
ReplyDelete^^Hahahaha! +1000!!!
ReplyDeleteYou can't just go to overland or go up north anymore to get away from the ghetto it's everywhere. You have to move 100 miles away thanks to the liberal nutjob Democraps.
ReplyDeleteI thought the answer for everything was "Build A Wall".
ReplyDelete7:44---i'm disabled and on Sec. 8 and live in a nice complex in O.P,. We rarely ever have an incident and then if we do it's not violent I pay all my own bills, receive no State aid because my disability income is $850 per year too much to qualify for any so your argument is not entirely valid.
ReplyDelete7:44---FYI as of this morning the Sec. 8 waiting period in Johnson Co. to receive a Sec. 8 voucher is 42 months..
ReplyDeleteBuy more guns and make sure you are proficient with them. Aim for center mass. If you get a chance to shoot a hood rat, don’t fuck it up. The chickenshit police aren’t going to help you.
ReplyDelete9:06 Sorry, but you don't pay all your own bills.
ReplyDeleteMy diaper you guys!!! It's so full right now, I can't even!!!!
ReplyDelete9:16---Valid point. The u.S. Govt. pays 60% of my rent. other than that I pay everything else.
ReplyDeleteDiversity cones to the suburbs. There is no escape. You can run from it, but you can't hide. Might as well accept it.
ReplyDeleteThe problem starts with the letter N.
ReplyDelete^^Nasty geriatrics?? I know.
ReplyDelete11:11 I'm in awe of your clever wit
ReplyDeleteKeep gentrifying the city and drive the hoodrats out to the burbs. There are more people with guns in the burbs and more cameras. Also, hoodrats don't have bulletproof skulls. Aim for the heads like they are walkers. Listen Carl....
ReplyDeleteSection 8 kills places like Olathe. People at this meeting asking why when they should know better. Rising diversity, rising crime.
ReplyDeleteEarlier poster is right on southern Leavenworth County. Leavenworth the city has very bad crime for being just 35,000 people.
West or just south of town Lawrence is nice. North Lawrence has some problems. Leawood and Stilwell are great. West Lenexa has developed well with good policing and low crime.
I grew up 11 blocks straight south, mom still lives there. I knew plenty of kids who lived in apartments and duplexes, I would say all had divorced parents. All were white. And there's your difference. Single white JOCO mom's back in the 70's and 80s were good parents, they had demands and expectations of their kids. None of the kids I knew are in prison. Black people ruin everything they touch.
ReplyDelete512 is right. For anyone who wants to say it’s racist, I challenge you to name any area that blacks infiltrated that maintained or improved. You can’t. Blacks could move into Mission Hills and in six months it would be like Grandview with large houses. It’s just what they do.
ReplyDeleteJust read the Star’s article on the meeting. The article reflects the downward slide in the quality of the news media. We are replacing experienced news people with offshore contractors and poorly-vetted AI software.
ReplyDeleteMake OP a “sundown town” and it would do wonders for this problem.
