Newspaper Complains Over Low Interest Kansas City Mayoral Election

Tonight's irony, newspaper laments the public isn't better informed. Here's their argument for their own ineffectiveness:

KC mayoral race is too quiet. Which candidate will step up? | The Kansas City Star

How many of Kansas City's 11 mayoral candidates can you identify? None? You're not alone. The winner of the April 2 primary election may be the candidate who steps into the arena in the next few weeks.

  1. blame the newspaper owners and hedge funds for this.

  2. Not our fault if they’re too lame to do any leg work, isn’t that their job or did they just expect everybody else to do it for them

  3. I guess nobody trust the red star to tell them anything, I don’t trust them to get anything right because sLIE tells them what to print

  4. He has a great deal of knowledge, I respect is opinion but I think the way we talk about politics in Kansas City is a big part of the problem.

  5. The candidates are lame and lazy. Only 1 stands out and at least let’s you know what he will do.. does that ring any bells. Clay has my vote unless someone has a better idea

  6. ^^^ Shut up Clay.

  7. Clay Chastain is the only candidate that will not be a duplication of Sly. Give the guy a shot to make average Kansas Citians a priority for once instead of builders and developers.

  8. ^^ Didn't the man tell you to STFU Clay?

Where do I get my Clay Chastain's, or any other white taxpayer candidate's yard sign?

  10. The candidates for KCMO mayor are all backwards and self serving. Pretty much how this works in kc is you have to be black, or gay to have a chance. You serve the SJW voter base while serving corporate interests on the backside. Meaning you are a corporate Slave while advocating against it. That’s the progressive style of politics. Toot toot.

  11. Low interest in city elections and low voter turnout because most KCMO residents have pretty much given up on ever having the option of candidates who are actually interested in them and the city services they want and need.
After you've seen the same sad show over and over again for decades, why waste your time going to candidate "forums" to listen to the lies or take part in meetings that involve "facilitating and identifying stakeholders", only to watch the electeds go off and do something completely different than what was "decided".
You'd kind of hope that having the airport fiasco front and center just prior to the election would cause more residents to say "ENOUGH"!
But with the current crop of mayoral candidates, the future is sure to just be a continuation of the past.
    Sad.

  12. Looking forward to listening to how the piggies squeal when Chastain gets the most votes in the Primary.

  13. The Star is just trying to seem relevant.

  14. Let's not forget, Stan Glazer came within 5000 votes of defeating Kay Barnes. Clay could do this.

all he needs to do is STFU about a train from his remodelled KCI to downtown. Just fix the airport, Clay.

the one time folk need door to door transit is when going to KCI. Not park downtown in the most expensive parking in the metro, and when your plane is delayed and you land at midnite and there would be no train.

So if Clay could just talk about KCI, he could win.

Trump was the outsider, elected to drain the swamp. He's sitting at 52% approval. This could happen, people...

  15. The voters realize, after the last eight years, that what they say doesn't matter after the election. The city council and major will do whatever they please... i.e. Paseo rename and streetcar expansion.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Where the heck are you people getting this "52% approval rating" number for Trump from?

Every poll I can find puts him in the 32%-35% range.

Did Breitbart conduct an exit poll at one of his many rallies and come up with 52% approval among the attendees?
