This is the second in a series of posts based on a collection of matchbook covers from the late 1940s. Then, as now, the intersection of 39thand Main streets was a major midtown crossroads, served by multiple streetcar and bus lines. As such, it was a neighborhood of diverse businesses, including a number of bars, taverns, and nightclubs.
