KANSAS CITY WALDO WEEK STARTS NOW!!!

One of our favorite local blogs has more deets on the celebration of our 2nd favorite working-class enclave coping with garbage streets, rising crime and real estate speculation like the rest of KCMO.

CHECK THE WALDO WEEK WEBSITE!!!

Just mention Waldo week to any of the participating local merchants and they'll offer discounts and a deep sigh. Sadly, the QT isn't participating which is the only biz with a decent margin in the neighborhood. Also, double bonus, the discounts will earn a deep laugh in Brookside where all the local biz is supported by ex-husbands with deep pockets.

  1. The city has destroyed Waldo.

    It looks like Appalachia. The streets are wrecked, full of mud, sewage, rocks, potholes and piles of gravel. The front yards are recipients of construction equipment, huge cement tootsie rolls, chunks of iron and waste from the many holes in the ground. The cacophony of diesel engines, whistles, screeching brakes, back up warnings, crunching steel treads though former gardens and pristine front yards brings you to consciousness every day with dread and the knowledge that your trip out into the street will be perilous with the threats of dings and scratches on your cars and flat tires from the aforesaid potholes. Each and every day, a new route is needed to "Escape From Waldo" and when you look in your rear view mirror, you don't see Snake Plissken.

    It sucks.

  2. But at least Appalachia has little crime.

    @6:49?

    Are you nuts.

    Appalachia has one of the worst crime rates on the east coast. The pillbillies are always ripping each other off and killing one another.

    There's no use lying about these people. They have been left behind.

  7. Last night we were driving on 75th Street back to Waldo from dinner in JOCO. We got used to the smooth ride and forgot we were crossing State Line when we hit a large pothole. I guess this is our local government's way of saying, "Welcome to Kansas City."

  11. I'm new to the area. Where's Waldo?

  12. As if the pothole/crater problem is unique to Waldo, gopher.

    ReplyDelete
  13. ^^Oh no! Potholes! I mean sure they're everywhere, and you can't really do anything about them until it stops freezing/thawing but you know, cry about them anyway. It's so beneficial!

  14. Ummmm. Remember last summer, gopher? It wasn't freezing or thawing then. Many potholes are well over a year old. Ward Parkway was getting comments last April.

    It's one thing when the city government spokesperson thinks the public is stupid. It's another when he/she thinks there is no limit to the public's stupidity.

  15. ^^well there's certainly no limit to your stupidity. It knows no bounds.
