KANSAS CITY RESISTS!!! POLICE LOSING RESPECT OR CRIMINALS EMBOLDEN BY SOCIAL JUSTICE WARRIOR ADVOCACY?!?!

In the mobile phone camera surveillance era, every encounter with police is subject to review by Twitter buddies and pundits looking for a crusade from the comfort of their sofa . . . And so, street life gets tougher for police trying to do their jobs whilst the public increasingly puts their faith in the court of online opinion where every injustice or offense is dismissed in about a week or until the next shark bong "news" tidbit comes along.

The Number Of People Resisting Arrest Spiked In Kansas City Since 2015

The number of criminal suspects who resist arrest in Kansas City has risen 60 percent over the past four years, Kansas City Police Chief Rick Smith told a city council committee Wednesday. "To me, that's a little bit alarming," Smith told members of the Neighborhoods and Public Safety Committee.

  2. Unfortunately there are a whole lot of people who are just jerks and do not want to adhere to socially acceptable behavior and when they actually break the law, again, do not want to comply with authority. Law-abiding citizens are sick of this crap. Law enforcement does a pretty amazing job of contending with these situations and before y'all start jumping on my statements, think about this...Everyone should pay attention to what is going on because YOU could be the next victim of someone's disregard for the rules of society and the laws that govern and protect us, of someone's total disrespect for life, YOU could be that next sad statistic. Instead of battling the police why not show some support for them and the job they do every day, every night to serve and protect you and your family?

  3. Um the reason the crime data (da data sez) suggests crime is going down, is one it's Mayor election time, and two people have given up on expecting the KCMO police to be able to serve and protect them at any kind of adequate level.

  4. ^^Yea! Because we can't have any facts that go against our narrative here in our TKC Bubble. What would the pants-shitters complain about if that was actually true?

  5. Can't rely on KCPD to protect us. It's not their fault Sly James and his crew of lackeys are hostile toward any attempts to fund police expansion up to the levels we need.

Chief Rick has his hands tied and has to play "nice" and be politically correct.

  6. No problem, so long as the perps are charged with and convicted of resisting arrest. They can contemplate the social justice of their actions while spending a few extra years in the joint.

  7. Or – more likely – the number of people being CHARGED with Resisting Arrest has spiked.

Police have extremely wide discretion in interpreting what is or is not "resisting" arrest -- anything from actual swinging a punch to demanding loudly what they are being arrested for. Quite often in cases involving "domestic violence" where the officers suspect (usually correctly) that when everybody sobers up the alleged victim will refuse to testify against the alleged perpetrator, that definition of "resisting" becomes very broad because the prosecutor can prosecute that charge without the cooperation of the original alleged victim.

  8. ^^^Maybe. Or maybe not. Any way to determine which? If not, I suggest we apply Ockham's Razor and stick with the explanation that requires the fewest assumptions.

2:54, that is succinct and correct.

Yes, Phil, wide discretion should include anything and everything that LEOs decide is not secure to them, the public, and the potential arrested person(s). Anyone "demanding loudly" why they're being stopped, cuffed, questioned,or arrested is often verbally combative, likely to "resist", and impede the officers from conducting even an assessment of what reason(s) an arrest will be issued for. The "loud" and "demanding" ones who stall and interrupt LEOs from communicating with others on scene or radio, are rude and could be deemed "resisting" if not compliant to commands. If told to get in the car, that means ass gets moving, not standing there arguing, nor negotiating.

So, resistance is so many shades of grey, be it physical contact or refusal to move.

  10. Good point from Phil. Looks like police are piling on the public, not the other way around. Good comment.
