Artists pull acts from popular downtown Kansas City venue

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -- Local artists are pulling out of a popular downtown venue, saying they simply can't play at The Garment House. The concert and performance hall issued an apology on its website and through social media, but it's not exactly clear what it is sorry for.

Also, the term "rap music" is an oxymoron. Rap is NOT music. Jazz IS along with other form derived from black roots.

If you attend a "rapper's" event, wear body armor and be armed.

  5. The stupidity of KCTV 5 Manager Oberdumb and Fake News Reporter Kayser are a complete failure at their jobs. Their LAZY ASS story to start racial issues fails to address what prompted a different music format. Since opening a few months ago there have been a Homicide Shooting and two additional shootings resulting in serious injury. The latest shooting multiple shots were fired hitting a person in the head and endangering dozens more waking and living in apartments on both sides of Broadway. Several people leaving the club were seen carrying handguns. The shooter turned around and a second time opened fire holding an Assault Riffle over the roof of the vehicle as they chased their victim south on Broadway until that vehicle struck another vehicle at 14th and Broadway. Channel 9 Editorial displayed the rifle being fired from the vehicle while addressing violence in KC. To bad KCTV is so dumb to report the whole story instead attempting to garner attention by making it Racial. I applaud ownership for considering public safety over money to make area SAFE again.
The musician featured in the KCTV story threatened to perform at 18th and Vine hows that been working 13 shot there in two separate shootings.....Wake Up call it what it is.

  11. That's racist.

Play black music... get a black audience. Get a black audience and you get typical black behavior.

It is just the way it is.

Maybe the need their own place for black music... oh wait, they already have it, it's called the "Jazz District". Why don't they play their black music there? We know why... they want to live longer than the first set.
