KANSAS CITY BIKE PLAN: SLUSH FUND

A quick example of local "activists" earning big bucks for pretending that bikes in the street are a human right and using every tragic accident to secure more taxpayer funding . . .

"Full implementation of the (bike) plan calls for between $387 and $418 million in infrastructure changes, educational campaigns, and other suggestions over the next several years."

  1. Got a better idea - a $200 annual "Bicyclist License", with immediate confiscation of any unlicensed vehicle in the instance where anyone over the age of 15 is caught riding one!

That way the Bike Nazis start paying for some small part of the costs of the special treatment they are receiving.

  3. We can’t get stripes painted on the streets let alone get the streets fixed and they want over 400 million dollars for bike lanes? Jesus Christ this city is full of the dumbest people on planet earth

  4. How about we drive our cars on bike trails? Wonder what the bike pussies would think of that? Fucking faggots.

  6. Weird how there’s a handful of internet tough guys on here who use words like bike nazis and pussies.

Anyway, as someone who rides all the time, unless the weather is a motherfucker like this week, I hate these plans to ruin KC streets with a lot of silly bike lanes. Armour used to be a great east-West rip thru midtown but those silly bike lanes make it a no go zone. 36th Street is also nice n wide I hope the planners leave it alone. Please leave paseo alone they paint some lanes e.g. on grand, and they pat themselves on the back as if they’ve done something. They put dangerous high curbs in e.g. like what’s surrounding the stupid “floating bus stop” for the prospect max on east 11th and east 12th. and make streets narrow and make bikes merge into traffic even if no cars parked on the side. Bike riders are not the same as bike activists. I don’t know what it is about transit planning and bikes that attracts the silliest fad-chasing nitwits. If they would pave the steeets, fill the pot holes, have a street sweeper every now and then, and not narrow streets with suicide curbs, that would be good for bikes to share the road with cars. And it would not cost hundreds of millions of dollars. My god that is insane money. Sorry I can rant all day on this topic.

  9. And to think they’ve been planning bike lanes for over 15 years and this is the best they can come up with, I’m guessing sLIE has destroyed the good plans and dumbed down the real plans to steal as much money as he can, worst mayor evar

  10. Will they have signs in Ebonics? Will they have stick people on bikes with x’s On cars so the hoodrats will know not to run riders over?

  11. $400 million for a bicycle campaign? That’s it KC I’ve had it. A fucking city that doles our corporate welfare like candy, refuses to tackle crime, and now wants to spend hundred of millions on a cyclist journey?

  12. From a bicyclist:

All you fake tough guys will be angry to know that since they don't have any plans for euro-style Multi-use paths that are physically separated from the roadway itself pretty much all the bike lanes they are putting up will be dangerous and useless.

Lanes not separated are dangerous and just become covered in debris in cities like KCMO that don't have regular nightly street sweepers.

Bikes will continue to go down the street in the lane because that is the only safe path. Deal with it Cleatus, Chuck and Sneed

  17. All bicycles will be licensed and taxed as personal property. They must be inspected for safety. All riders and owners will carry insurance. All bike riders will obey all traffic laws the same as vehicles subject to the same fines and suspendtions.
