Education Revelation: Show-Me Bible Study In Missouri Public Schools?!?

Missouri considers adding to the local burden of partially accredited schools and inflated numbers with one more divisive subject that threatens to turn away even more parents from public education options. Checkit:

Missouri lawmakers advance proposal for Bible classes in public schools

The Missouri House Special Committee on Student Accountability voted to advance a bill from a Republican state lawmaker pushing for Bible classes in public high schools. The bill, introduced by state Rep. Ben Baker, would require Missouri education officials to develop guidelines and standards for courses on the Old and New Testaments that could be offered as electives in public schools.

  3. Might as well start paying for the legal fees that will come from this fight. It will lose, these Christian fundamentalists don't care though. It's not their money being wasted.

  4. It would be an elective. If you don't like it then don't have your child sign up. Simple solution.

  5. What's simple is that the bill is unconstitutional

    1. It is unconstitutional for the state to select one religion over another as a state sanctioned or "favored" religion as England did with the Church of England which includes to this day 26 church bishops who sit in the House of Lords.

If a school however offers elective classes on the history of Christianity, Islam, Buddhism etc either individually or collectively without identifying any one of them as the "true" religon then there is no constitutional issue.

Whether I or anyone else would want our children to attend any of these classes is besides the point. Actually I wouldn't be surprised if most Christian, Islamic or Buddhist families would not want there children to attend a public school class on their religon as they wouldn't know if it fit there family's views on Faith.

  8. Religion. Greatest story ever told. Hell, might as well. They might learn some new words like beget, begotten, hath. AttenDUnce will rise to 97%. Explain to students that although Milky Way is 100,000 to 200,000 fucking LIGHT YEARS ACROSS, (Light travels at 186,000 Miles Per SECOND) God set up his headquarters here after creating all this (plus the rest of the UNIVERSE) in 7 days. Over a BILLION STARS in Milky Way alone, and we're the lucky one. Yeah, let's educate these future voters.

  9. So, you all do realize schools historically were Christian based? I believe if you look back to before God was removed from schools you would find better educated students and less criminal activity, especially school shootings. Just saying.

  10. And when the local Mosque wants to start a Koran education program in the schools, guess what if the Christians get to do it then every other superstition believing "religion" will get the same opportunity.
