Consider Kansas City Weed Forgiveness

The prosecutor isn't charging weed cases in most of KCMO any longer. And so the reality is that the drug war on this front has been lost and now the conversation on correcting the prison industrial complex begins . . . Take a look:

Marijuana conviction forgiveness?

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - KANSAS CITY, Mo. - There is a growing push in Missouri to expunge misdemeanor, non-violent marijuana convictions. "I think we are looking at a time where nationally we are readdressing the whole question of marijuana usage, especially what we consider minor usage," said Amy Hartsfield.

  1. Years ago when I was 17 me and a friend were pulled over in Belton. Long story short we were both 17 at the time and arrested for a small amount of marijuana. It was less than a joints worth and our hands were placed behind our back and put in handcuffs.....taken to jail. Had to get bonded out.

All over a few pieces of a plant.

  2. Kc cops used to make us dump our bag of pot out, then they would throw us in the old school paddy wagons and drive like crazy all over the city, they would let us out after we were bruised and bleeding from bouncing around in back, but that was it. I’m just glad we didn’t have to tell our parents!

  3. Jean Petersucker Baker doesn’t prosecute murder or rape charges anymore either, but that doesn’t mean we should expunge old convictions. It just means We have a worthless prosecutor.

  5. Me and a friend got caught with some weed once. just a little and a pipe. The state trooper just took it from us and told us to grow up. no arrest or anything. I always appreciated that

  6. You have to be a bad dude to end up in prison for pot. They don't put end user pot heads in... only the bad ass dealers. And I don't know anyone who thinks they should be back on the street.
