Matchless city: A night at the President
The third in a series of posts based on a collection of matchbook covers dating to the late 1940s. This grouping conjures an overnight guest at the Hotel President - perhaps a Westinghouse home appliance dealer, or a fan of the University of Michigan basketball team, or a conventioneer with the Corn Belt Livestock Feeders Association, all hotel visitors in 1949 - and a couple of nightlife options in the immediate neighborhood.
