Clay County Lawsuit Chatter Considered

We love talking about Northland beef for a lot of reasons but mostly because it should remind locals that local government dysfunction isn't just an urban core phenomenon but also exists in GOP dominated middle-class suburbs. Take a look:

  2. You have to reasonably agree that Ridgeway is executing her plan and the other commissioner is playing politics. The court will address what the state auditor can do when there is a county with a county auditor or not. Crazy legal spending, expensive coffee pots, budget cuts against various enemy departments happens in all governments.

What is the criminal transaction the commission has done outside of spending that goes against the stark raving mad Witty boy? Have not heard the real charge. Anybody? And back the charge up with a statute reference not rumor mongering.

  3. The real problem is lack of any sort of punishment power in the auditor's office or the state. A couple years ago another county somewhere near us got busted for corruption and graft. There was a report that indicated as much, everybody was mad, Galloway left and it went back to the same ol same ol the very next day. No one really had resources for an individual suit and nothing was triggered in the legislature (I don't know if anything actually exists). I bet we find the exact same thing here, and nothing but handwringing and hollern' will occur.

  4. @9:09 one item I'd like to have looked at is the payment of the Legal Fees of two County Employees after they entered a plea of guilty to the destruction of County Public Records in the midst of an investigation by the Prosecutor into the legality of acts taken by Ridgeway and Owen.

The destruction of records stymied that investigation, and the allegations that the same thing is happening with regard to this Audit is disturbing, to say the least!

And again, if there's nothing to hide, why such strenuous and expensive effort to hide things?

  5. ^^^ I don't know, did you ask them? Why are you asking on here? Stupid post!

  6. Yes We agree, your's is a stupid post @7:46!
Did you have anything to say on the topic, or is this just all you have to contribute- a sniveling whiney little grab for some sort of recognition of your unimportance?

  7. Anyone remember the last three clay county politicos who were investigated? Clerk Pam Mason, Auditor Vic Hurlbert and Auditor William Norris. Not a good group for Gene and Luann to be compared too.

  8. The auditors must need confidential minutes of closed Commission sessions to learn who approved the purchase of the coffee maker. High crimes and misdemeanors merit removal from office.
The cost of the audit to Clay County may be $150,000.

  9. The audit team, Galloway, etc., have been requesting minutes of closed Commission sessions that are protected by law for personnel discussions and other issues.
Audit should be focused on financial records not closed meetings.

  10. Any criminal activity uncovered should be referred to attorney general for prosecution.

  11. @12:36 This isn't a financial audit. Finances are included, but this is a comprehensive performance audit of the entire county government
