City Manager Troy Admits Recycle FAIL Amid Global Climate Change Kansas City Ice Threat

Actually, this is perfectly normal weather for February as KCMO City Manager Schulte prioritizes services that aren't running full speed in typical weather . . .

"Due to the icy weather conditions, @kcmo will be suspending recycling services only for this Wednesday 2/27/19. Crews (both city and contractor) will focus on trash collection only today. Recycling should be set out next Wednesday for residents with Wed. collection."

Climate change: Democratic lawmaker rips Donald Trump's panel on climate science as 'dangerous'

CLOSE WASHINGTON - The Democratic chairman of a key congressional panel Tuesday characterized the Trump administration's latest efforts to challenge the science behind climate change as "dangerous." The comments by Rep. José Serrano, D-N.Y., chairman of a House Appropriations subcommittee overseeing federal climate funding, came amid news reports that White House officials are putting together a national security advisory panel aimed at countering the science behind human-caused global warming.

  1. If the warming cultists actually have science on their side, they should not be afraid of honest debate. With that advantage they should easily crush their opponents. The fact that they have consistently refused to participate makes it likely that they don't have a convincing argument, and are afraid that their opponents do.

  4. Recycling, another very costly green idea that costs the taxpayers billions of dollars and only pays back a fraction of the cost in recycled goods. If something can't pay for itself then the whole thing needs to be stopped. Instead of street cars how about using that money to make a steam heat plant to heat buildings like Con Edison does back east but use the trash the city collects as the largest part of the fuel burned. And you that will scream air pollution if you want to stop that ban all these fireplaces puffing out untreated smoke every night every day all over the world.

  5. Please retards...nobody is interested in any of your opinions on climate change. None of you is capable of discussing it rationally and frankly none of you is qualified. You bastards never even graduated high school. If you did, it was 50 years ago. So please spare us your worthless opinions.

  7. Climate Change is a hoax to steal your money.

This from The Washington Post in 1922!

"The Arctic ocean is warming up, icebergs are growing scarcer and in some places the seals are finding the water too hot, according to a report to the Commerce Department yesterday from Consulafft, at Bergen, Norway.

Reports from fishermen, seal hunters and explorers all point to a radical change in climate conditions and hitherto unheard-of temperatures in the Arctic zone. Exploration expeditions report that scarcely any ice has been met as far north as 81 degrees 29 minutes. Soundings to a depth of 3,100 meters showed the gulf stream still very warm. Great masses of ice have been replaced by moraines of earth and stones, the report continued, while at many points well known glaciers have entirely disappeared."

The predictions were 100% wrong in 1922 as the ice came back, and so far, they have been wrong now. But somehow, being wrong so consistently allows them to say the science is settled. The only reason they get away without being questioned about their bad previous predictions is that almost all journalists just repeat what they are told with no questions.

It is too bad that journalists won't question John Kerry and other fear-mongers, but here are a few easy ones for them:

How come the ice is still in the Arctic after 150 years of exponential growth in fossil fuel use, since we were told it would be gone by now?
What caused the ice to melt after the Ice Age, since humans and fossil fuels couldn't have caused it?
We have been warned that because humans and fossil fuels cause warming, we would have snowless winters. Why were the predictions so wrong, and why should we believe the doom and gloom about the future since previous predictions have been 100% wrong?
Scientific studies have shown that droughts were much longer in the past, prior to when humans and fossil fuels could have caused them, so why do climate change alarmists continually lie that we cause longer and more severe droughts? Isn't that a daily assault on the truth?

  8. Off topic, but the poster talking about graduating from high school 50 years ago, fails to understand we learned some things, like history, versus today's grads who, for the most part, don't know shit.

This doesn't apply to the tech and hard sciences students as so much has changed. But watch college age folks being interviewed on TV. Most can't even tell you what countries abut the U.S., let alone any history of our country and just how precarious our democracy has been from time to time. They do not even know who the protagonists were in World War II. No sense of history! Sad. Does anyone think AOC has any idea of our struggles from revolutionary times to today? Much of today's populace are simply ignorant.

Progressives always lie, just like me with the Chicken Little, "Sky is falling" bullshit and dumb fucks like you, buy my books, see my movies and vote us all into office.

  15. 11:18 - Can you show me where tax dollars are going to funding recycling? Geesus, how dumb are you? Deffenbaugh does it because it makes them money, and it's not all in the form of monthly fees to recyclers.

Yes, I'm aware plastic essentially gets shipped to China for recycling and once they decide to shut that down the economics will change but until then, it's a profitable venture. Fucking idiot.

  18. 2:16 you idiot
China hasn't accepted our recylced plastic since 1/2018 GD you're one stupid fucking moron who always shoots his mouth off calling others idiots.....

Soaring recycling costs that show no sign of slowing down are forcing cities and towns to either pay more or cut back on the service. Surprisingly enough, it is more expensive to recycle than to fill a landfill. It costs around $28 per ton to throw trash in the landfill. The cost to recycle is around $147 a ton.

Waste Management reports that there are more than 2,000 municipalities around the U.S. that are forced to spend money to get rid of their recyclables. Thatmeans tax dollars are being spent that people might not be aware of. Bill Moore, an Atlanta-based consultant on paper recycling, said that everyone has been duped to believe recycling is free, when, in fact, "it's getting more expensive."

Large, American corporations have had to cut back on how much they recycle because it's becoming too expensive. For example, Walmart promised to use three billion pounds of recycled plastic in its packaging by the time 2020 rolled around, but it's simply turning out to be too costly — and they can't find enough materials to make it happen, anyway.

  19. 2:16 just got the fuck knocked out again.

  20. 2:16 here - I gotta take my lumps, I am the idiot. I was wrong, China did, in fact quit accepting plastics and other materials from the US in 1/2018. For an example, San Diego, brought in $4M in revenue before the Chinese banned the recyclables. Now, it could cost the city over $1M a year to continue the program.

Recycling domestically will have to be adjusted.

    Carry on mocking each other.
