There's just a hidden gem in this report: 3RD DISTRICT DIDN'T THINK IMPROVING THE PARK WAS A PRIORITY. Fact is, most KCMO parks are pretty sketchy and in need of sprucing up . . . Unfortunately, City Hall leaders are too busy giving away every dime to developers to provide more funds.

Group pushes for repairs to Martin Luther King, Jr. Park
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City will soon have a Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, but a park in the city already bears the civil rights icon's name. The green space and tennis courts can be found at Swope Parkway and Woodland Avenue.
Can we rename this place Paseo Park?
ReplyDeleteIf the "activists" had any sense, they'd be campaigning to get the name changed to "Jazz District Park", and then the City would pour hundreds of millions into it.
Change the name and use the greedy King family royalties that will be saved to fix up the patk.

Where do I get my Clay Chastain's, or any other white taxpayer candidate's yard sign?
ReplyDelete@7:52 is definitely on target.
ReplyDeleteNo one will ever use this park no matter what condition it's in
ReplyDeleteEntitlements.
ReplyDeleteThe 3rd District... Those who speak the loudest will get the money in this Council... As long as it is on the east side of town of course.
ReplyDeleteAnything named after MLK deserves to be a shithole or in a shithole part of the shithole ghetto.
ReplyDelete7:52 does make a good point.
ReplyDeleteSo does 10:41
DeleteEveryone knows anything named MLK is a dangerous place to be, even blacks.
ReplyDeleteSomeone needs to forward this MLK Park name to the family to make sure KC is paying properly for naming rights
ReplyDeleteYou should see Malcolm X park ... what a dump!

MLK fans do not play tennis. Put in bullet proof lemon aid stands for the local "venders".
ReplyDeleteMalcolm's family would likely be honored not out to make a buck.
ReplyDeleteJust more fuckery from Council Dweeb Reed. He spent all his time championing a name change that nobody wanted only to let existing fixtures named in MLK’s honor to go neglected by the City. This has been part and parcel of his tenure on the council. Ready to show this inept POS the door...
ReplyDeleteJust more TNB in KC. If they would have left Paseo alone, they could have taken the money it’s going to cost to facilitate the change and turned this shithole park into a showstopper. Of course, like all things in brown town, it would have been vandalized and destroyed within the first week, but they’re never going to be more evolved and civilized than they are right now.
ReplyDeleteI did see some of the grifters on the news barking about how this park needed to be fixed up. I thought to myself, if it were in a white neighborhood and government funds weren’t available, white people would seek grants, request sponsorships, hold fundraisers, etc., but all the blacks know to do is hit up the taxpayers with more “gibsmedat” mentality.
