That's a direct quote from a legislator as tensions rise and local politicos lose patience with a process that's going to be exceptionally pricey AND possibly start even more fights betwixt Team Frank Vs. The rest of the Courthouse . . . Read more:
County legislators had harsh words at meeting to discuss Jackson County Jail
Hide Transcript Show Transcript WEBVTT TODAY. IT LOOKS LIKE THE TROUBLED JACKSON COUNTY JAIL HAS ARBITRARILY CUT BACK ON STAFF BECAUSE IT CAN'T FILL JOB OPENINGS. AND KMBC 9'S MICHEAL MAHONEY SAYS THAT'S PROMPTING A COUNTY LEGISLATOR TO WARN TROUBLE I COMING.
Slie and his crew are stirring the pot behind the scenes as he wants the jail out of downtown.

ReplyDeleteI don't know why, his son will be in there some day and he will be closer for daddy to visit.
Frank White has had higher priorities than taking care of the jail. Like working out super secret deals with Slick Mike Sanders to avoid foreclosure, getting his son a cushy job at the KCATA, and keeping his cronies on the county payroll. The Legislators haven't done anything about all this either. What a sad joke, but no one should be laughing at this mess that has gotten people hurt inside the jail and wasted who knows how much money.
ReplyDeleteSounds like that crackerjack HR staff Frank White handed out big raises to last year have done a first-rate job recruiting staff for the jail. Go to LinkedIn and you have a hell of time finding the Jackson County job listings. It isn't much easier on the county's own website.
ReplyDeletePut the jail in the caves. Plenty of space, cheap on utilities and out of sight. Then Sly can build a new Slywood luxury high rise with his, Claire and Cleavage penthouses on the top.
ReplyDelete@ 9:05 If you look at the county website you'd think the jail only hires people from 3rd world countries.
ReplyDeleteGo into the jail and you'll see that is true.
DeleteIs this the meeting that forte skipped because he’s to stupid to add anything?
ReplyDeleteWorking at a jail has got to be a shitty fucking job. I toured the jail like 20 years ago with a criminal just class at UMKC and it was like OZ. there was one girl in the group and all the inmates were chimping out seeing her through the glass. I see why no one would want this job for $18 an hour, minus the KCMO 1 percent tax, minus the KCMO taxes, Minus the state and fed taxes. Comes out to like $11 an hour. fuck that.
ReplyDeleteOne of the main benefits of the jail being downtown is the have an underground walkway to the courthouse so it makes transportation easier
10:37 there is no underground walkway. The county spends a fortune hauling inmates back and forth a couple of blocks from the jail to courthouse.
ReplyDeleteGotta be all levels of gubmint regs to keep the detention facilities ADEQUATELY staffed. So, it must be a hellhole jail when the vet preference hiring doesn't fill those vacancies. Put some badass USMC MPs in there. Wait, what?! They'd probably AWOL.
ReplyDelete10:37 I was thinking the same exact thing. $18 an hour to work in that shot hole. Hell no. Dealing with the worst Jackson county has to offer. If they are needing 36 new employees and can’t find anyone to work then they are definitely not getting the rape problem under control. Yup and then the city taking its earnings tax and all your other taxes you aren’t making near the amount of money to work there.
ReplyDeleteNational Geographic or one of those networks needs to come do a locked up show on the Jackson county jail. Isn’t there sewage backups and mold and other crap going in there too? Wasn’t there a raid on the jail by the feds recently?
As of today there are 824 inmates in the jail. 467 are black (56%). Jackson county black population is 23.7%. 331 inmate are white (40%). Only 15 inmates are Hispanic.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to the Jackson County Democratic Committee for selecting a candidate based solely on your desire to have a face. You whiffed completely on qualifications. You made no attempt to find and select a person ready to take the responsibility of leadership. The voters chose a thief and a liar, based on the recommendation of the committee.
ReplyDeleteIt's clear now that Forte has neither the leadership to run the office, or the financial acumen to actually understand a major budget.
It has been everyone's understanding all along that the Kansas City commissioners would not hold Forte responsible for anything, because of constant threats made by Forte. Now that Forte is going to be forced to speak and defend his positions watch him implode. Making claims that racists in the legislature and county exist and are working against him. He will not be able to substantiate those claims.
Forte was not prepared, does not have the skills to run the office and the next two years will be bad. Hopefully the voters will have a better candidate than Jackson County gave them.
Of those 824 presently in custody couldn’t some get bailed out? Don’t defense attorneys blame the prosecutor office for making high bond demands as the reason for overcrowding? But I may be mistaken. Would be great to read an informed comment on this local interest blog, not just “F you” “no, F you” type comments or the dullard who always comments “MLK” no matter the topic.
ReplyDeleteThanks,
Radish
